We sure know relievers.

Jefress was a royal too.

So Ian "gopher ball" Kennedy is getting firebombed again?

Catch up on the DVR.

It's turning into a game!

Nevermind.

Go back to drinking.

Kennedy settled down after a long first inning, FYI.

Fans and big market teams over-value the closer position. Small market teams MUST trade their top closers when needed. Someone as dominant as Davis can get quite a return. It's one of the easier positions to fill in baseball and wouldn't worry me in the slightest.

We are down just one top end reliever this season compared to last and it has cost us multiple games. Trading another is not a good idea. Next season still projects to be our best chance at playoff success for the foreseeable future. We can prepare for beyond 2017 without weakening our team next season.

Would Morales fetch us anything in trade?

Small market teams also have to make significant gambles to be successful. Trading Myers, Manaea and Reed are excellent examples of this. The Royals could opt to re-up Holly and take a chance on a project ala Madson before heading into 2017. It may backfire like Soria, but gambles like this are necessary when operating with a limited rebuild.

After 2017 we're looking at a 2-3 year rebuild unless we restock in some capacity.

It would be ideal if he had a hot streak again. Could catch a good piece from an AL team needing extra power or an NL team looking for a bat off the bench/DH come postseason.

Why Not? 07-25-2016 09:00 PM

This looks like a team ready to throw in the towel. I wonder if 70 wins is obtainable at this point

Sorry, but the starting pitching and offense will be the same next season, if not worse.

Probably best for the Angels to just finish us off this series so we can sell for sure.

All minor league players though. If next season didn't project to be a great opportunity then of course trading Davis is a great idea. We should gamble all we want with money and minor leaguers, but not important pieces to the major league roster as long as next season is still brimming with optimism. I am happy to endure a few years of rebuilding if it means another deep playoff run, though I don't think trading Davis is necessary to prevent rebuilding seasons. I can't remember the last time we lost anything significant off the major league roster that we had control of moving forward and I doubt it starts this season.

So you think next season is lost already and it's time to throw in the towel?
