Wow. That's stunning.

Probably should be its own thread, not buried in the basketball repository.

Not Mizzou basketball news but B12 news.

Maryland had offered a contract to Turgeon according to ESPN. He has not accepted it yet.

Here is an excerpt from a RMN post that is hilarious.

Then there's Towson transfer Isaiah Philmore, who also visited this weekend but will wait until he has taken all of his visits to decide on a new school. At 6'7, 230 pounds, Philmore averaged 15.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He's an inside-outside player who grabbed 2.5 offensive rebounds per game but still managed to shoot almost two 3-pointers per game as well. I was going to see how he did against major conference competition last year, but unless I'm missing a game in there, it appears Towson didn't play a single major conference team in 2010-11. Not sure how that's possible, honestly. And they still went 4-26. Ggh. Philmore was not a high-usage player, but he is a decent ball-handler for his size, and he shot 80% from the line. Obviously if he were to come here, 16 & 7 would not be reasonable, but I see no reason why he couldn't average 8 & 4 for a couple of seasons, which would certainly be nice off the bench.

(Philmore and Pressley would also give us the wonderful opportunity to have the following players on roster next year: Matt Pressey, Jervon Pressley, Phil Pressey, Isaiah Philmore and Steve Moore, which I'm pretty sure is something that could be taught in English classes.)

Maryland is a more basketball centric school. Not disagreeing with you but I could absolutely see the pull of be HC at Maryland.

Not exactly seeing where you were trying to go with my quote, but just to be clear, I was simply stating that TXAM program is better than Maryland's and has been for the past 4-5 years.

And after your six years on this site, we know your opinions are always incorrect because you are a fucking idiot.

So, in this case, you thought A&M's program was better than Maryland's. Of course, the opposite was in fact true.

Dumbass.

Denmon nails down Team USA roster spot

By Mike DeArmond - Posted on 04 August 2011

Marcus Denmon can take a deep breath and enjoy it now. The senior guard from the University of Missouri and Kansas City has made the final roster for the U.S. men’s basketball team that next week heads for China and the World University Games.

“Appreciate all the support,” Denmon tweeted late Wednesday night. “Made the final 12 man roster, now we getting ready for China.”

This morning, through Missouri, Denmon said:

"It's a great feeling and it's an accomplishment I am proud of.

"My mindset was just to come out here and work hard. I couldn't really control anything else.

"It's something every basketball player has dreamed of and I look forward to representing the University of Missouri, Kansas City, Mo., and the United States."

Joining Denmon on the final cut after six days of training camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, in Colorado Springs, Co., are:

Tim Abromaitis (Notre Dame/Unionville, Conn.); Ashton Gibbs (Pittsburgh/Scotch Plains, N.J.); Draymond Green (Michigan State/Saginaw, Mich.); JaMychal Green (Alabama/Montgomery, Ala.); Scoop Jardine (Syracuse/ Philadelphia, Pa.); John Jenkins (Vanderbilt/ Hendersonville, Tenn.); Orlando Johnson (UC Santa Barbara/Seaside, Calif.); Greg Mangano (Yale/Orange, Conn.); Trevor Mbakwe (Minnesota/ St. Paul, Minn.); Ray McCallum (Detroit Mercy/Beverly Hills, Mich.); and Darius Miller (Kentucky/Maysville, Ky.).

“We have some good point-guard play, some good, athletic wings that can shoot the basketball and then we have some good interior strength,” said Head Coach Matt Painter of Purdue, who at one point seemed destined to be Denmon’s new coach at Missouri before he decided to stay at Purdue and Mizzou hired Frank Haith.

“I think we have balance,” Pointer said. “We do have some interchangeable parts, some guys at the three and four positions that can swing either way.

“We can play smaller and we can play bigger. It will depend on who we are playing against. I do think we can play a couple of different ways, and that’s always a positive.”

Training camp continues through Sunday with two practices a before the team leaves for China on Monday.

Team USA will play an exhibition against New Century, a Chinese Basketball Association team, in Huizho on Aug. 11 before opening World University Games play on Aug. 13.

Four members of the team have played for USA Basketball previously.

Seven NCAA conferences are represented on the roster, but Denmon is the lone player from the Big 12 Conference.
