Woody Johnson was going to try this until he got shit all over for it.

it amazes me how many folks take Clark seriously. this isn't a new development, this team lost 14 games this season and one of their players killed a girl and himself.

Hunt has already made his move, folks. The rest is formality. He'll wait for Josh McD and keep this shitfest rolling into 2013.

If you read that statement at face value and go with what we know about how things are ran at Arrowhead, I don't see how you can't come away dissapointed.

I'm embarrassed of what was put on the field, but I'm contemplating keeping the guy directly responsible for said product.

Explain to me how this makes sense?

People need to relax.

It's a legit tweet and IMO not good news for Pioli.

This. This hopefully means that we get someone that has more control over personnel (hopefully Cowher) and let him decide whether or not he wants to keep Pioli, which means he's gone.

This is similar to Coach Fisher's set up in St. Louis. He's not the GM but he has control over personnel.

NO, NO No no N-o and No ****ing way...what part does anyone not understand? Lovie Smith sucks.

Clark could have used the possessive "I" to state how much power Pioli has lost, doesn't mean he's gone. Grasping at straws here folks.

Not saying I am unsure on whether I want him as coach. I don't. I was talking about his impact on ticket sales.

I just don't see us getting Cowher.

Maybe Clark CAN'T talk about Pioli's future if he's in the middle of a legal battle with Pioli in regards to his buyout?

I keep saying it, but it's really all I have right now.

OK, so you have confirmed that if Pioli is fired this weekend instead of yesterday, you'll still be pissed about it. Got it. That stance is really stupid.

AFC West blogger, Bill Williamson on ESPN.com, agrees with most of the sentiment in this thread:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/po...pioli-in-limbo

The Kansas City Chiefs have begun the cleanup project after a miserable 2-14season.

And they are taking an unusual route.

The team announced head coach Romeo Crennel has been fired. But the team will not fire general manager Scott Pioli ... yet.

Owner Clark Hunt released a statement announcing Crennel’s firing. In it, he apologized to fans for the terrible season and he said this about Pioli: "The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of general manager Scott Pioli.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Hunt will lead the charge to hire a new coach and then Hunt and the new coach will discuss the direction they want to take at general manager. That is very unusual, especially when there is a strong-willed general manager like Pioli in place.

This could be an indication that the Chiefs will target an experienced, high-profile coach. I couldn’t see relying on the input of a young coach about the future of the general manger position.

This, at the very least, suggests Pioli’s power will be greatly decreased if he stays. I can’t see Pioli being excited about that prospect.

He made a bold move to replace Peterson. He wisely stripped Peterson of power his last year and listened to herm and kuharich, who were both pleading to get younger fast. He went out and got one of the highest coveted GMs in the market. I don't think anyone could have anticipated how incompetent pioli would become. I don't blame hunt for hiring pioli or giving him this much power. I will despise him if he doesn't get rid of him or strip him of power to make any kind of meaningful decision.

It doesn't.

It means one of two things, or both.

Clark Hunt is a pussy, and doesn't want to get his hands dirty.

Clark Hunt cares more about money than doing the right thing.

Either is a poor reflection on our owner.
