But if you keep adding and dropping credits and making my bills change monthly, I'm done and without a penalty.

Good luck with that.

This, when I called on behalf of my dad, they tried to get me (pretending to be him) to do a new contract, I said no, the guy laughed and said, "yeah I don't blame you", he said I have a lot more leverage without one.

Wow, that's a lot of commas in that sentence.

Best I could score was $8/month off the ticket, $5/month off for auto pay (since I had a new card) and a free genie/free install which had a monthly fee of $3. An hour of waiting pissed me off.

OnTheWarpath15 08-25-2014 06:43 PM

Was offered $8/mo off ST and free HBO/SHO for 3 months.

I'm a 9 year customer who spends $150 a month, and that's the best they'll offer?

I've really been happy with their service, and hate to switch, but **** 'em. I can get cable with all premium channels, 100 Mpbs internet and phone for $160/mo.

This is where I am with them.

I'm paying $80 a month for the package, $30 for HBO/SHO and another $43 in bullshit equipment fees.

I'm calling back in a second and just being straight with whoever I talk to. Don't waste the time of a 9 year customer by making him cancel, when we both know you'll be calling/e-mailing me three times a day offering me the moon to come back.

Do it now, or I'm done.

Someone in this thread was a customer that long as well and paying near $160-180. He asked what they'd do and they pretty much told him nothing. They let him walk! Hope that isn't the case but they seem less willing to work with even long time customers.

I'm calling back now, and if they aren't willing to budge I'm setting a disconnect date for mid-September when this billing cycle ends.

If they want to go to the trouble of me cancelling for a month and then signing up under my wife's name, so be it.

I have a friend who just signed up as a new customer who is willing to give me his password for ST. I'm going to buy a Chromecast and stream it to my plasma. Hell, I may decide to cut the cord completely if enough people can step me through the process/options. (Roku, Apple TV, etc)

Good luck. I've been with them 11 years and they didn't care. Hilarious thing is they tried to bill me for Sunday Ticket on my termination final bill. I told them they can take me to collections, they can do whatever, but they will never, ever see that money for a service I didn't receive.

I'm just using Apple TV right now. I don't think I'm ever going back to DirecTV.

I'll be honest, I've yet to do any research on cord-cutting.

What is Apple TV capable of?

Our regular shows are on the following channels: HBO, SHO, AMC, FX, etc - plus sporting events.

See the guy below. He was who my comment was about. They ****ed him pretty hard.

I've been a customer for 13 years. My average bill is 198.00$ because we have every freaking channel. The best they could offer me was $5 dollars off each month for ST & $10 off my HBO subscription for 6 months.

I really haven't dove into much yet. We've basically just used Netflix and my son has watched a lot of Royal Rumbles on the WWE network.

We have used HBO 2 Go on there and you can watch pretty much every show they've had - but you need a login for your cable or satellite company. I just use my brother's login for his directv account since he has HBO.

I scored again.

I went to retentions, got free Sunday Ticket (just regular, not Max). Also got credits for HD DVR, and 1 other discount that will have my regular bill $35 less than where it is now for 2 more months (I'll be at $60) and then $25 less for the next 10, and managed to just get a 12 month contract so I can try again next August.

I also got them down to $49 for the rest of the season on MLB package, but that wasn't good enough for me so I left it at that.
