Never even thought about Francoeur. Sad as it is, he'd probably be an upgrade over Rios right now. You give him playing time and he'll pop 10-15 HRs and people will respect his arm in RF.

just no

would rather just rotate Orlando and Dyson

lewdog 07-18-2015 03:52 PM

Did someone just yell "Dyson's a bitch?"

Well, if Ditka and Peter Griffin had an ass baby together, he was sitting behind me last night talking all kinds of weird shit, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Just checking stats on the Royals bullpen in the last month:

Franklin Morales:
8.2 innings
6 K's
1.04 ERA
1.27 WHP

Luke Hochevar:
9 innings
8 K's
0.00 ERA
0.78 WHP

Ryan Madson:
8.2 innings
4 K's
2.08 ERA
0.92 WHP

Kelvin Herrera:
14 innings
12 K's
1.29 ERA
0.64 WHP

Wade Davis:
12 innings
15 K's
0.75 ERA
1.17 WHP

Greg Holland:
12.1 innings
18 K's
1.46 ERA
0.97 WHP

Pretty effective 6 man bullpen.

Then good thing Morales, Davis, Hoch, Finnegan, and Madson were.

The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to think that a deal for Cueto includes Bruce.
Reports that the Royals have been the most aggressive team inquiring for trading for Cueto.

However, the 2 other clubs also most interested are the Dodgers and Houston. Either organization has way more ammo to deal from their system if they want to outbid KC. Unless, KC is looking at multiple players on both sides of the trade. Specifically, Bruce and $19 million the Reds can free up and save to go along with whatever prospects they can net.

This obviously softens the blow of only renting Cueto for half a season. You will have Bruce next year and his salary comes off the books right when KC would like to have money available to possibly resign some of their own guys.
Either way, you would be legitimately shoring up the outfield for the next 2 seasons, and getting starting pitching needed this year. Obviously, nothing is certain, but the rotation next year looks like it will have a number of potential options for guys finally ready to jump from AAA and make the opening day roster.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but it would make sense and I could see Moore keen on addressing more than just Cueto for only half a season if he was to make a trade.

I doubt ownership would complain about additional salary because none of it is a long term contract they'd be on the hook for.

I don't think Herrera was ineffective at all. If Rios puts any effort into that play it's an out.

Can it be any more possibly frustrating to have Rios suck so much in the outfield.
I can accept a shitty player on some level if they're simply just not that gifted with more talent or being more athletic.

Since he's been back, it seems like he's constantly costing the team by his effort, or lack thereof, in RF.

tk13 07-18-2015 07:14 PM

Rios could've had that, but still, the ball went over the fence. I wouldn't exactly call it a great pitch either.

How long do we have Cain before he's a FA?
