His last appearance was the two-parter where he was leading a group of Borg that were cut off from the collective after assimilating the concept of individuality from Hugh. In the end he was shot by Data, deactivated, and dismantled.

Spoiler!

In regards to the spoiler part of your post, there is definitely a very important chunk missing in the motivations of the characters actively working against synthetic life forms. The series has moved plotlines based off of an ancient mystical hatred of AI from some of the Romulans as well as the massacre on Mars, but the vision that was given to Scrunchyface Murdergirl from that Federation officer was very generic. Too generic to (for me) to justify her killing Maddox. So either we weren't given an accurate portrayal of the vision or Scrunchyface Murdergirl has knowledge that makes that vision more of a believable outcome.

There is speculation over at a Trek board that this will tie into a major storyline from Discovery season 2.

Yeah, this was definitely the "feel good, catch your breath" episode (minus Hugh getting pasted). Still very enjoyable.

Two episodes in, does it get better? So far its pretty meh imo.

This. It started kind of slow but now it's rolling right along.

I've wondered if it's going to tie into Control from Discovery season 2. Speaking of which, "AI is bad" seems to be a bit of a running theme in this iteration of Star Trek.

A lot of anti-AI sentiment in TOS, too. M-5 is a good example.

Another bland episode in my opinion. Hopefully the final three are much better than the first seven. If it weren't for the nostalgia factor, this would be the most disappointing show in recent memory for me.

I have been looking at a few videos on Youtube and I'm running across a ton of comments from people complaining about this show. The main complaint surprised me. That the show is ruining the idea of the Federation being some kind of wonderful future utopia filled with great people who only do good things. Like they want some kind of woketopia without conflict but don't realize how shitty that TV show would be.

This is pretty much how I feel. They really are stretching these episodes out — the first seven hours have about 2 hours of actual content and then a bunch of self-indulgent fluff. The whole this is a convoluted and almost boring mess.

TNG and DS9 dealt with all kinds of examples of the Federation having a darker side to it. They’re some of the best episodes. The problem with ST: Picard is that it just isn’t telling the story it’s trying to tell very well.

Man, tough crowd lol.

Picard isn't prime TNG or DS9 storytelling to be sure, but I think we're all basing this on our memories of what the best of those past shows were, and that's not fair to THIS show. It's flawed, but I'm still enjoying it greatly.

If TNG came out today it wouldn’t make it a full season. For better or worse we are in the age of prestige TV and there’s little room for shows like Picard. To me, it’s easily the best Trek content since DS9, but I’m also part of its prime demographic.
