Gee sucks shit.

We have to learn to develop starting pitchers faster than once or twice a decade.

mr. tegu 07-26-2016 06:34 PM

I am still surprised so many people are willing to go into next season with a bullpen of Herrera and not much else.

I don't think it is what people WANT, but if that's what is necessary to keep from running guys like Gee, Young and the like out there to start games and you can get a guy or two who could potentially be frontline guys, you have to be open to moving a closer.

It's the, "what's our biggest need" game.

The starting pitching has been atrocious. Won't be in many games to need a shut down pen with the pitching we've had in those spots this year. As stated many times, relievers are easier to replace.

Starting pitching sucks
Offense sucks

Might as well start selling and hope that Moore and get the job done.

Prospects, no matter how highly touted, are prospects. We of all people know that there is no guarantee with starting pitching prospects. People seem way too confident that should we get a haul like the Yankees got or better that those players are just going to automatically produce next season. I don't care about any season after next season right now. And as mentioned earlier in this thread, we are on a 92 win pace when anyone but Young's spot pitches. We don't need to create another hole on next year's team to get decent production in that spot.

You over estimate how "easy" it is to replace great relievers. If it was as east as you claim we wouldn't be flushing money down the toilet with Soria and running out minor leaguers all season. Its easy to replace bodies out there but good ones aren't easy to replace, much less great ones, and for our team, we need great ones because of the offense. Luckily I am certain GMDM agrees with me.

If you never have the lead what use is there of having a Wade Davis sitting out there waiting for a game he can pitch in?

92 win pace by who's calculation?!

Before the injuries to Cain and Moose? Before you knew Gordon, K-Mo and all the 2b wouldn't hit? Before our starting pitching outside of Duffy went to shit?

Just because you have a certain amount of wins at this point, does not mean you are on pace to win that many games. Things changed heavily in the past month.

Dayton Moore has been pretty good about finding arms...except for this offseason.

We are a contending team. We need a reliable pen and closer. Davis appeared 69 times last season and 34 times so far this season despite the bad pitching so there will plenty of games and need for him next season.

Ask Duncan. He just posted it a few days ago so I assume it was based on the current pace.

Which means we are starting even more behind come next season in that area of the team.

I don't want to trade him but if you can get Giolito/Turner then you have to.

Gotta be patient with hamstrings.

Today's positive nugget: Royals are on a 92-win pace when anyone but the no 5 starter starts. They're on a 52 win pace when the Chris Young spot in the rotation is up.

Makes an interesting case for acquiring just a solid starter to the rotation. Which is probably what Dayton Moore is looking at.

I have no idea where these numbers exactly came from but it makes you wonder where we could be if we just had a Vargas type pitcher.

A flyball pitcher with modest historical success?

I would say we have seen exactly what happens to a Vargas type pitcher this year.
