If both people are of legal age then why do the authorities even get involved? It shouldn't be a crime. Now the school will fire the teacher for breaking school rules and kill them on any referrals but i'm not sure why anyone gets arrested.

Because in most states its absolutely a crime. It's essentially an aggravating factor (leveraging a position of authority) in what would otherwise be a legal tryst.

It's a crime because...it is. It's codified by law.

If you think that should be changed, by all means, contact your congressmen. Good luck getting him/her to sponsor "HB 1401: The Let Teachers **** Their Students Act"....

I'm sure that will get plenty of traction.

Wow, somebody is fired up.

So can an 18-year old sue because that law is infringing on their rights to have a relationship with another adult?

The Freedom-To-**** Act

It's not even about gay ****ing so all the religious peeps shouldn't get their bibles bent out of shape.

So are all people in positions of authority legally prevented from having sex with anyone or is it just teachers?

You have an odd definition of fired up. I would say I was being glib.

Difficult to tell through typing.

Glib it is.

So why don't one of these 18-year old student sue about it?

Well the students rights arent technically being infringed; I don't think they'd really have standing. I suppose the teachers could give it a shot but the Constitution gives states the right to pass laws designed to regulate public health, safety and welfare.

So unless you believe that completely unfettered sexual access is a fundamental right, you're probably hosed. Hell, even if you think it is, laws preventing teachers from nailing their students would almost certainly pass a strict scrutiny test.

There might be a makeable 14th Amendment/equal protection style challenge there; kinda depends on the law in question.

Not an easy W to be had here, for sure...

Well shit they have it now where you can kill them up to nine months before long they’ll have the consent down to 8-10yrs old. Welcome to liberal America

In May, an 18 year old student (a senior in HS) has sex with his high school teacher (let's call her Mary). That fall, he (still 18 but now a freshman in college, and male) then has sex with his college professor (let's call her Jane).

Under your rules, Mary should go to jail, but Jane should not?

Yeah, agree to disagree on that. Mary and Jane should both be fired, and Mary's teaching certifications should be revoked. College profs usually don't have such things, but if you can put a permanent black mark on her resume, that's cool too.

But JAIL? That's ridiculous in my mind.

There has to be a line. If in your state a girl is 17 years and 364 days old and has sex with a 30 year old he goes to jail assuming that state has a consent age of 18. Where as a girl who is 17 years and 366 days old has sex with a 55 year old man and it isn’t a crime.

I think that kids grow up more in their first 3 weeks of college than they do in their last two years of high school which is why I’d make the HS teacher/student a crime.

Of course it isn’t 100% perfect, but in my extremely limited educational opinion on the subject that is where the line should be drawn.

If you think a teacher who ****s a consenting 18 years old student should go to jail you are no better than the people who fought against gay people and whatever they want to do. They are two consenting adults, there shouldn't be any law that tells them they can **** or not.

Yyyyyyyyyup. While it does possibly complicate things in other areas "of the business" (others whining that the lady/man putting out "got the job" because she/he was putting out, those sorts of things), the sex itself is fine and people should STFU.

I don’t know where to start on this idiotic statement. Comparing bigots condeming gay adults to people who think that high school teachers shouldn’t be banging their students is absolutely ridiculous. This is possibly the stupidest post ever made on this forum.

I am looking around to the one of you who's daughters or son's teacher was caught ****ing their teacher and then repeat that it's Ok

Let's see you address the School Board in open session, go on the news and ask for the police and the school to leave the teacher whole. Whole to continue teaching their children's siblings over the next few years.

Ya Which one(s) of you would even discuss your views here with your wives?

"Honey, It's OK with me if little Sally ****s the Spanish teacher, she was going to **** someone better an educated man with a job then...."

It's more like "that ugly ****ing whore took little Bobbies innocence" and you ****ing know it.

The Franchise 02-01-2019 01:32 PM

If you refer to your 18 year old as "little *insert name*"....then you've got bigger issues and you're in for a rude awakening.
