Like Zobrist, Ross, Arrieta, Chapman, Rizzo, Lester and more?

It's a nice mix and Theo has basically locked his HOF credentials.

But the money didn't hurt.

Well every team has veterans, you're acting like Ross is an All-Star? He was their backup catcher. Only reason he's even on the team is because Lester has to have him. Arrieta is still on his first contract. He was considered a failure in Baltimore. Rizzo is a young guy they traded for and developed themselves.

Their only big established FA's were Lester, Heyward and Zobrist. They traded for Chapman, and he might walk as a FA. It's hardly a team centered around paying big for free agents.

Why Not?
