Im jumping into this conversation like 3 years late but oh well. I have taken two charters up at Lake Erie this past summer and did real well. I went on a perch charter with my buddy and his grandpa and brother and we caught 28lbs worth of perch, cleaned it was like 15lbs, I maxed out 2 hours into the trip they were hitting like crazy we were fishing in 30-35 feet of water, it was a blast. Then my brother and I took my dad on a walleye charter up at Lake Erie again, weather was terrible 7-8 foot waves were freakin crazy, I caught three walleye biggest was only 17inches there were no big ones on the boat at all but it was fun, my brother caught 2, my dad caught 1. The biggest fish of my summer was when I was on the perch charter we were around Kellys Island in Lake Erie and while perch fishing I caught a ten pound sheephead, thing fought like the Dickens.

Posted before here but up-dating I guess..hoping for a fall/winter crappie run this year, so far low water and fish with lock-jaw has me depressed..maybe they'll pick it up later..good fishing to all....

Too cold where I am for crappie anymore. But I like fishing for them they are a blast. I use a Zebco Rod/Reel combo its called a slab finder made just for schools of crappie light test 3lb is what I have on it, its about 8 feet long super sensitive. I use it all the time for bluegill its a blast.

Im going up to Bull Shoals and the White River in a week. Going to do some trout fishing up there, I heard its pretty good on the white and I might see if the crappie are decent on Bull Shoals. I usually bass fish here in Texas or Trout Fish on the Little Red in Arkansas.

Fly or spin fishing for trout? If you've fished the LR, you know the issue with tailwater generation. They've been gunning water like crazy lately, so a boat might be necessary for the White. Good luck, there are some monsters in the White (much like the Little Red).

Spin, thanks that good to know about the water. Im hoping the State Park has some better access than below the Greers ferry dam on the Little Red. If it does I should be better off, I managed to almost catch my limit every day on the little red. Id like to actually catch for once. I've heard from people who say its impossible not to catch your limit on the white.

This comes from another board, but it's a cool pictures series of a trout rising to take a dry fly. Pretty amazing photography:
