More concerning to me than an individual game or two is that he's wilted a bit since the Heisman/#1 pick spotlight has shined directly on him.

i'd agree with all that

still like the kid...just give me a QB not named jones

Be truthful now.

If this is the only game you have yet seen of Geno tonight. And that is all you knew about him.

And someone posed the question- Does he look like the number one QB to be taken in the 2013 draft?

What would you reply?

I know a lot of folks are high on Smith....but from some folks I respect, they say he is more of a "system QB" than a real highly likely to succeed NFL-prospect.

More Andre Ware/David Klinger type than a RG3/Cam Newton type.

I don't have a strong opinion, as I don't get to watch a lot of college football.

You're crazy if you rank K-State below any SEC team other than Alabama or Florida.

This is the thing about judging these guys and projecting them to the NFL.

You have to look at the system they play in, their skill set, their intangibles etc.

It's not all about numbers.

Could Geno be a system guy? Yeah, could be. Could Barkley be great because he's throwing to 2 NFL wr's? Yeah could be. Same with Wilson and Bray.

Well, it's looking more and more likely that the only game they'll lose, if at all, will be a BCS bowl game.

And the point was that A&M was a middle of the road (at best) Big 12 team that went toe to toe with LSU.

O.city 10-20-2012 08:07 PM

Geno had a bad game against a great team. It happens.

Doesn't mean he can't play well against good teams. It's just that his defense is so awful that he has the pressure of having to score on every drive. It's caught up to WVU the last two weeks.

I don't like Geno either. I remember when Stafford whipped Alabama in Athens while UGA was #1, and the multiple SEC titles that Eli won. I was shocked to see Luck and RG3 only throw TD passes and never lose a game.

I also couldn't believe Peyton Manning was a guy that people thought couldn't beat Florida. Or watching Brady ride the pine as a senior.

LSU's only loss is to Florida AT Florida, 14-6.

It's like big-12 fans don't get it. It's been proven over and over again that those big-12 offenses just do not match up very well against SEC defenses. They just get curb stomped. I know they get to look pretty against other pathetic defensive teams, but in the SEC we break foot off in big-12 asshole like it's our day job.

That's completely not fair. It's not even close to the same system. Luck ran a pro-style offense that he was in complete control of at the line of scrimmage. There's no one else like him. People need to stop comparing any of these QB's to Andrew Luck.

big-12 offenses do not match up well against SEC defenses. This has been proven over and over and over again. Fact. Science. It's not an argument or a ****ing debate. Yeah yeah we hear this every year.

And Stoops isn't called big game bob for no reason. I mean, he's got a rep for that. but Florida's defense was too much for OU's offense, just like LSU's was a few years before that when they just manhandled OU in the title game.

There's a lot of red flags in his game right now that weren't evident against garbage defenses.

KState and Texas Tech exposed a lot of them. KState especially.

I'm not completely against him, but as I said in my prior post, of course this is the year that the QB crop is really substandard.

I don't think that Matt Barkley can be considered sub-standard. Now, he may be nothing more than Andy Dalton but the Chiefs could win with Andy Dalton and should have taken him in 2011 (instead of Baldwin).

still like the kid...just give me a QB not named jones

Yes, I'm with this.

I'll be excited as hell for a #1 QB. My excitement for Smith took a big hit the last 2 weeks, but if his name is called in April, none of this will matter.

I think as a whole the crop is. I like Barkley though a lot more than most.

I'm fine with Andy Dalton. He doesn't make mistakes, he throws a pretty nice ball and he can make just about every throw.
