Yeah that Richmond-Ft. Wayne game is interesting. Richmond had only 57 yards passing, but won 20-6.

Week 6 lineups ready, sims Monday night.

I know this, but I don't have the pass to run set to 22% run 78% to pass lol. Just pissed Drew Brees did nothing against this secondary.

lostcause 07-20-2013 08:52 PM

Held Demaryious Thomas and Victor Cruz to a combined 2 catches, 18 yards.

Alex D. Smith still the #2 rated passer in the SFL, though.

TambaBerry 07-20-2013 08:55 PM

Got my first win, albeit was against Ventura and their free agent Qb, but ill take it.

Yeah, those penalties hurt. 10 for 100 yards, and we had them on 7 of the 9 drives in the first half both offensively and defensively. Here's how my first half went. I'm surprised we weren't blown out earlier.

(Defense - 1st drive) Defensive holding on an incomplete third down pass to keep a Denver drive alive.

(Offense - 2nd drive) A personal foul that took out a 27 yard gain and eventually stopped the drive.

(Defense - 3rd drive) A personal foul on a no-gain run on third down that kept a Denver drive alive.

(Offense - 4th drive) Holding on a 17-yard third down pass that would have kept the drive alive (plus a false start earlier in the drive).

(Defense - 5th drive) No penalties!

(Offense - 6th drive) Holding that negated a first down run, though we made it up.

(Defense - 7th drive) Roughing the passer that turned a 2nd and 17 into a first down.

(Offense - 8th drive) No penalties!

(Defense - 9th drive) Personal foul that negated a sack and produced a 23-yard swing.

Im telling you - Im having a Tim Tebow Qb year, Ive started 3 qbs in 5 games...

Turnovers (3) and Drops (6) did you in Fort Wayne...

Go Chiefs, I have to give it to you - you are the man to beat in this game.. you have figured this game out..

Im just trying to finish 8-8 and look forward to next year..

In fairness to the amazing job Clay has done with his squad this year, he did a top notch job gaming a season where he already had all the statistics available especially utilizing PFF which I believe are heavily used by CD. He sold out for this year in the offseason and its paying dividends. In future years, he will still have talent, but won't have the advantage of hind sight. Kudos to him, but he hasn't gamed the game yet I don't think.

Hammock Parties 07-20-2013 10:03 PM

I don't think I've "figured" anything out. I just did a lot of research on available talent and went after what I felt were good players.

The trade for CJ Spiller has been the biggest boon to my team.

Now I just have to figure out how to avoid killing him because right now he's carrying the ball too much.

I'm pretty confident my set of 4 WRs + Spiller is going to be impossible to beat this year. And next year I get Jason Peters back at LT healthy, with any luck, and I can dump Donald Penn for a high pick.

TambaBerry 07-20-2013 10:09 PM

I feel like my team is really strong, and this off season I have two first round picks and two second round picks to hopefully make it stronger.

Blew a 24-0 3rd quarter lead and needed a fumbled snap to win it in double OT - unreal.

That felt like that Chiefs/Saints game for the whole 2nd half. As soon as Rodgers threw the pick-6, I got a bad feeling about it.

This offense just isn't as potent as I expected it to be. Every time I think these guys are going to pull away a bit, they just start to shit down their legs. I think the problem is that Chris Johnson just isn't an explosive RB in sandbox. His numbers are okay, but it's by volume more than explosion.

Fansy the Famous Bard 07-21-2013 11:17 AM

I was just looking at some rosters.

It's going to be interesting to see what Fort Worth does with their Colin Kaepernick/Eli Manning situation this coming offseason.

You have to trade Eli if Colin tears it up in real life this year, don't you?

I think the RGIII saga has to have taught us something.

A running QB is not likely to be a championship winner in Sandbox. RGIII is ass in this league because we can't exactly install a read-option just yet.

I'm not sure I'd be too eager to unload Eli if I had championship aspirations. You'll need to see if Kaep can actually put up some passing stats as well.

I've got Brees and can only manage 3 3rd down conversions per game.

Hammock Parties 07-22-2013 09:17 AM

It still factors in rushing yards, though. Ryan Tannehill has a crap ton of rushing yards.

Making a trade play for Eli or Kaepernick this offseason or next is probably going to be something I look into.

I have, at worst, the 2nd best collection of skill-position players in the league and I just now crawled out of the basement on 3rd down conversions.

I think my problem has been two-fold: 1) No short yardage RB worth a shit (MJD was just hopelessly awful for me in this regard) and 2) Too many penalties that ended up putting me in 3rd and long situations.

So has anyone had to face a worse schedule based on WL records so far - through 5 games (Im not sure if home game advantage plays into Sandbox, but whoever did my scheduling needs to be shot, lol):

week 1 Las Vegas Lonely Strippers (4-1) - Loss 6-13

week 2 at Kansas City Ball Busters (4-1) - Loss 14-33

week 3 at Fort Worth Drifters (2-3) Won 20-11

week 4 at Springfield Attack (1-4) Loss 24-31

week 5 at Fort Wayne Dukes (4-1) Won 20-6

week 6 at ClearWater Donkeys (4-1) TBD

Dallas schedule:

Topeka Tyranids (2-3) W

Denver Broncos (5-0) L

Pittsburgh Tacos (3-2) L

Wichita PotHeads (0-5) W

ClearWater Donkeys (4-1) L

Ft Wayne Dukes (4-1) TBD

through first 6 weeks... will have played the top 3 (IMO) teams in the league. Despite going in with what I thought was going to be a VERY good defense, I'm near the bottom in Points allowed. While being 7th in yards allowed.

Through 5 games - 12 Turnovers, 10 fumbles (6 lost), a kicker that is 2 of 6 on the year, 4 punts returned for Touchdowns, an Offensive Coordinator that has gone for it on 4th down about 15 times, not kicking a FG in double overtime from the 17 yard line, and a punter that on top of giving up the 4 punt returns for touchdowns is averaging about 20 yards per punt... I'd say I'm lucky being 2-3.

I had run heavy play selection on first down and favorable 2nd and 3rd down situations. Much more run heavy than normal. I thought I could be successful because Chula Vista has a weak run defense. Unfortunately my running wasn't effective and I found myself in a lot of passing situations on 2nd and 3rd down. I also fell behind and had to pass like mad late in the game.

The thing is, my passing was relatively effective (5.6 ypa for passing plays compared to 3.3 ypc for running plays). I might have been more competitive had I passed more on first down.

I'm beyond tired of Chris Johnson being a pussy in short yardage situations. I wanted to see if Turbin could actually give me 3 and 4 yard carries instead of this 0, 0, 15, -1, 1 shit that Johnson gives me. Johnson is just particularly ill-suited for my offense. He's a HR hitter that, if he doesn't hit a HR, strikes out in spectacular fashion.

And yeah, another game where my guys desperately tried to blow a 3-score lead late in the third with plenty of help from penalties and an ill-timed turnover. He was 10 yards away from coming back to beat me 21-19 after I just coasted to a 19-0 lead. Big ups to my red-zone offense for shitting the bed 3 times...

I already know how my season's going to end - a penalty on Tarell Brown. According to Sandbox, he didn't actually cover anyone last year, just held them on every play. Oh yeah, and Gerald McCoy evidently has no idea where the neutral zone is and Bruce Irvin has never met a QB he wouldn't rough.

TambaBerry 07-22-2013 09:07 PM

LMAO

I can't wait to play you.

I have the edge on offense, you have the edge on defense. It's going to be interesting.

And if I blow you out like everyone else I need to be investigated for taping practices or something, because this is getting absurd. LMAO

Mostly I'm still marveling at the fact I have a 30 percent third down conversion rate while ****ing killing everyone. WTF.

Maybe the sim is kicking in with a "hold on, no more scoring for you" bit of code.

DJ's left nut 07-22-2013 09:14 PM

After further review, it's not Chris Johnson's fault. Be it coaching, cohesion or post-championship hangover, this offensive line is significantly less than the sum of its parts.

It doesn't pass block, it doesn't open holes in the running game and it does commit at least 2 drive-killing penalties/week. It's just abysmal despite having 2 legitimate blue-chippers and 2 more above average starters and (for now) an adequate 5th guy.

This team isn't a contender. When Harvin goes down, I'll be lucky to win 2 more games over the last 7 weeks.

Hammock Parties 07-22-2013 09:16 PM

It'll be a very good test of your rushing offense; is Spiller really that good? Because to this point, trying to run the ball against me and control the clock just isn't going to work - this rush defense is outstanding.

My offense just isn't cooperating. I fully expected the offense to go out there and force teams to pass against me so I overloaded on my secondary and pass-rushers. Instead, these choking bitches just keep refusing to put teams away and they get to keep running against me....to no avail.

This front 4 is just superb.

Looks like I have to move Devin McCourty to FS for a week. I don't think I can afford to have Matt Giordano roaming the deep secondary playing a team that has Julio Jones.

Got a feeling this is going to be a shootout.

Good game clearwater - thought I made the comeback - but my qb's cant finish the deal - Sanchez threw an INT with 2min left vs Springfield inside our own 20 with a tie game - and Im running it on 4th down with 10 yards to go.. .with less than a min left..

2-4 ugh - played 3 5-1 teams and a 4-2 team in my first six... ugh

Can't say I understand what my offensive coordinator is thinking with his passing play calls. I've got a very strong receiving corps (decker, james jones, mike williams, and cecil shorts), and I threw predominately short passes. I know Pittsburgh has Richard Sherman, but he can't cover all of my receivers. I should have been stretching the field more.

Who did Springfield have covering him?

It's about damn time. He'd been averaging about 27 yards per game before that. He also led the league in drops. A lot of my offensive game plan is built around keeping him on the field, so it was getting pretty frustrating.

Also, interesting stat: I have given up the most passing yards by nearly 100 yards, but the second fewest yard per attempt. I have played some very pass-heavy teams.

I have the same "problem."

Though not recently. :p

We oughta have a yards per play stat added to that chart if our commish isn't too swamped. Always the best indicator of defensive strength to me.

Interestingly enough I received a very terrible trade offer during the offseason. I can't remember any details except it included Aaron Hernandez. And that was post-arrest.

Some funny AI here - taking a 10 yard holding penalty over a 7 yard sack:

2nd Q 7:40 1st and 10 Richmond 23 Aaron Rodgers sacked by Rob Jackson for a loss of -6 yards.
2nd Q 7:04 2nd and 16 Richmond 29 Aaron Rodgers sacked by Israel Idonije for a loss of -7 yards. PENALTY. Offensive Holding on John Sullivan. -10 yards.
2nd Q 6:56 2nd and 26 Richmond 39 Aaron Rodgers passes complete to Percy Harvin for a gain of 13 yards.
