For the record, I don't think they'll trade Kennedy. I think they see him as at least a serviceable #3 or 4 for next season, with Vargas back. I think they'll be praying hard for a big year from him next year and that he opts out after. If not, they may look to salary dump him then . . . .
If Wade Davis ends up getting traded, I think it will be for a nice return package so DM can justify it to the fanbase and state that's it's been done so they will be even more competitive next year to make another run. I also suspect if he is traded, the Royals would be on the phone with Holland's agent rather quickly to see about bridging a gap with him to possibly come back next year (again, to appease the fan base) |

Young wasn't terrible. It was a 2 year deal and carried minimal risk. The Royals just slotted Young in the wrong place to start the season and it all went downhill from there. He should have been the LR/emergency starter when needed role.
Soria was a risk due to his age, past injuries and inconsistency, but its not like they broke the bank for him. DId they give him too much? Probably. But's its not an albatross contract and some other team probably would have done it. Kennedy was the HUGE risk and so far that deal is coming up craps. I think I only saw two people (Duncan and someone else) who were okay with it. It was universally derided, as it should have been. Again, I think he MIGHT work as a #4 or #5, but that's about it. And, obviously, he's getting paid way more than he should. On the flip side, Gordo's contract was a deal that was universally praised as Dayton getting a good deal and Alex taking a 'hometown discount'. I still think there is time to recover on that one. We'll see how next year goes . . . . |
Yeah, I don't get Duncan's love of Kennedy. That's a pretty unusual misfire. He's been total garbage

Hoch to DL retroactive to 7/25 per Royals twitter. Interesting, but that sucks for more ways than one.

There goes one trade chip

They didn't even mention what the injury was, that's bizarre.
