Same shot he hit at Winged Foot. He hit like 5 fairways today.

Rose played 14-18 at +6 in the first 3 rounds and then channels Ben Hogan today on the last 3 holes...insane. Another Superman performance up against Phil lol.

Phil is gonna look back on that putt on 16 for years...was a pretty simple putt honestly.

He's just never going to win a U.S. Open...I was beyond convinced that it was happening today and now I don't think he ever does it.

As wild as he's hit it, taking the driver out of the bag may not have been the wisest thing in retrospect.

Lost his game today. Was solid all week until this point.

Good for Justin Rose...always been a big fan of his.

With that back pin, being in the rough isn't a terrible thing, but with the way that green slopes, good luck there.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-16-2013 05:23 PM

He pissed away so many shots over the first three days that it was eventually going to bite him in the ass when he wasn't hitting it better than he knew how.

Another US Open Sunday another Sunday where Phil cards his worse score of the week. I don't know if you can call it a choke when it happens so often. Perhaps choking should be redefined as Mickelson.

He's missed at least five putts inside of five feet this week. That's why he's gonna lose.

The guy is the worst putter under pressure relative to his talent I've ever seen. Scott Hoch was worse overall, but Mickelson is leading the PGA Tour in putting this year and he was probably one of the ten worst putters in the field this week.

Jerm 06-16-2013 05:24 PM

The shot on 13 was equally horrid...I mean so bad. Why he was trying to hit a low slinging draw there I will never know...

O.city 06-16-2013 05:24 PM

With as few putts as Phil made all week, I'm surprised he was in it this long.

tk13 06-16-2013 05:25 PM

Heck if he'd just hit all his lip outs today alone, Phil would win.

Oh he's blown his own foot off and has only himself to blame, no doubt.

My comment about Rose was more a compliment to him.

With the way Phil plays, it's pretty remarkable that he's been able to contend in US Opens 6 times.

One of the greatest talents in history. Unfortunately, one of the worst chokers too. This is looking like another classic Phil conclusion to a major tournament.

TribalElder 06-16-2013 05:27 PM

lol @ 35 putts

He's contended more than six times; he's just been runner up six times.
