And we will have played very little competition, save for Illinois and ODU. That scares me.

Mizzou looks good, Denmon looks like he could be a Legendary player like Anthony Peeler.

Illinois, Villanova, Notre Dame, Cal when they were ranked ahead of us. Not the strongest schedule to be sure, but not complete cupcakes either.

Is Missouri the most complete team in college basketball?

This is a great read.

I don't think there's any way you can make that statement. The 4-guard setup has been successful so far, and we can definitely win with it. But I think "the most complete team in college basketball" needs to have a stronger frontcourt.

Mizzou will struggle when they play teams with multiple players who can bang down low. KU comes to mind. Ratliffe can at least slow Thomas Robinson down, but it will be tough to keep TRob and Withey both off the offensive glass. As goofy as he is, I could see Withey having big games against Mizzou if the Tigers collapse on Robinson.

Did you even read the article?

Excellent article, but we don't have the size and rebounding ability to be the most complete team overall.

Ha. Almost added tl;dr (or watch)

I'll read it when I get home tonight, because it looks interesting. I'm skeptical that they could change my mind on the frontcourt situation, though.

The writer qualifies what he means by "complete". Basically, a team that is good on both ends of the court.

Saul Good 12-15-2011 11:24 AM

I don't agree with his definition. Its incomplete.

baitism 12-15-2011 11:29 AM

Who ultimately makes the OOC schedule? The AD with help from the coach (then Mike Anderson)? Because it is brutally weak.

It's an odd conclusion, but a hell of an interesting article.

Read it for the information; toss the thesis.

Are the Tigers the most complete team? I would say no. I would also say they are playing better, and are being coached better, than I expected. This season has gone from expected disappointment to cautious optimism as Mizzou heads towards conference play. Haith deserves praise for getting the most out of these guys, heres hoping it continues as we head into conference play.

stonedstooge 12-15-2011 07:46 PM

Bump. Tigers not looking so hot again tonight

baitism 12-15-2011 07:51 PM

Difference between all other games and this one. Mizzou isn't crashing the boards tonight.
