When I say 'done' I don't mean gone, I mean finished.. as much as something like that ever is anyway~ Its complete in that it is built to the hilt, reliable and drivable at 400 horsepower forever. It could always be turboed or something, but for the purpouse I bought and built the car, im pretty good with where it sits.

I really am just going to sell one of my daily vehicles and use the truck as a daily...ish.

Race truck daily. I do what I want~

I have also changed my mind in that ill take a 4wd for the right price~

If it’s just a shimmey it is probably alignment or ball joints or something. That isn’t a major ordeal.

I’m kind of out of the midsize car market but The wife had a Buick Regal sometime ago that I liked. It was underpowered but it was a good vehicle.

... try a tire, wheel, or brake.. Ball Joints don't cause shimmy.....

Sounds like something to look into at least. Thanks Mac and buehler.

Just take it to a full service "tire" store and have em look it over....

Have you ever put a clutch in it? $500

Shows how much you know... bad ball joints can absolutely cause a shimmy . Probably not the issue in this case, but that's not the point

cooper barrett 01-21-2018 09:20 PM

Yes, technically they can, in a classroom (cough), but they don't.....They can "vibrate" if they are moving around in their sockets but it's always something else causing the abnormal vibration or shimmy.

Shimmy is an "abnormal vibration"

Shows how much you know.

Quote:

If you are trying to diagnose a vibrating component on a vehicle, the vibration (low frequency) is most commonly caused by wheels or tires. Steering wheel shimmy (sideto-side movement of the steering wheel) is always caused by tire/wheel imbalance. Low power steering rack friction can also amplify the steering shimmy response to imbalance. Normally the vehicle will show very low steering effort when compared to a known good vehicle.

Vehicle shake (up-and-down movement of the steering wheel) can occur with balanced, non-factory tires and wheels. Tire shake and shimmy will vary with changes in vehicle speed. Speed sensitive vibrations are usually due to an out-of-balance wheel. It is also possible for tire shake to occur ONLY during braking. First-order tire/wheel vibrations usually produce a vibration frequency of 10-20 Hz.

:rolleyes:I know exactly what a shimmy is.

And nothing you googled contradicts what I said.

They can and do cause shimmies.

Whatever,

I didn't Google it for you or myself, I KNOW what I'm talking about.
I went back and added for the OP so he could learn something, it looks like it could be useful to you also.

ROFLok. You definitely don't know me.

You are wrong here. Definitely. Keep googling.

I know guys that know much more than I do.

But you don't. Period.

Especially if you think a loose ball joint can't cause a shimmy...

Any of you guys know a good Touchless car wash in Johnson County? Everyone I've called or go to says they are not touchless.

cooper barrett 01-22-2018 03:55 PM

There is no thing of a good touchless, downtown OP has a joke of one but it works for like $5. If you need to blow the salt off

7910 Marty Make sure you chamois when done.. no blowers.
