The double play to end the 8th was a killer with Albert on deck.

Cards strand 14 runners. Pathetic

Damnit, I could handle giving up a bomb to Utley or Howard. But not Ben Francisco.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2011 06:28 PM

That is just a brutal way to lose.

Goats of the game:

1) Garcia: For getting smoked by Ben Francisco. Jesus
2) Berkman: Aside from his first swing of the series he's done nothing
3) LaRussa: If you're gonna have a quick hook with Carp, you might as well have a quick one with Jaime, who has the stamina of Gilbert Brown.

And I wanna see more Lidge. I think he stills wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares over Alberts moon shot.

Or Craig Counsell

Or Endy Chavez

Or Jose Lima
Or Mark Bellhorn

This team has always been snakebitten by bums in the playoffs.

The Phillies in all honesty are better than we are where it counts the most. The have the pitching. We have matched up well but it always just feels like our starters are hanging on by a thread. Even why Jaime was cruizing. We should have put up atleast 5 runs tonight.

Philly's pitching is just too much to overcome. We get past their starters good things start to happen.

Why ar epeople bitching about the intentional walk. What about Molins letting an easy pitch go right between his legs? What about the previous inning when he had worked an 3-0 count and swung at a ball down at his showtops? Then strikes out.:banghead:

Al Bundy 10-04-2011 06:42 PM

Did Garcia start today for the Cards?

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-04-2011 06:45 PM

Philly's pitching is not too much to overcome. Hamels was not good today, but we let him off the hook.

Tony probably needs to flip Freese and Craig in the order so that you have a legit power bat behind Berkman, because w/o Holliday, this team has no ability to go deep after the #4 spot.

kcpasco 10-04-2011 06:45 PM

Well let's hope Jackson can pitch great tomorrow. Oswalt doesn't scre me to much, I hope the bats produce.

Frazod 10-04-2011 06:45 PM

Well, I did my part by not watching. I did listen on the radio while I was picking up dinner, however.

I hope this wasn't my fault. :(

1. Their pitchers made more mistakes than our pitchers, we just didn't square them up.
2. Agree
3. Garcia had been cruising. That was a good pitch for the single. He just made a mistake.

You weren't the dumb bastard who hung a changeup to a fifth outfielder.

On paper its our best chance to put the ball in Carp's hands.

Different pitchers carry different expectations. There is a difference between Carpenter cruising and Garcia cruising. Jaime can absolutely lose it at any time and turn into Cape Canaveral. You could tell he was starting to tire in the sixth when he started running up counts. By the time he started off Victorino 3-0 in the bottom of the 7th it was pretty clear that he was losing it.

If it's the regular season, you let him battle his way through that inning to save the pen, but you just can't take that risk in a must-win game like that.

You knew Hamels was going out of the game after throwing 115, so why worry about the PH? He should have brought in Dotel to face Ruiz.

As a fan of the Phillies and S4L, I was in favor of the team blowing the ATL series just to avoid the Cardinals. And after today's win I still wish we did; the Cards offense is terrifying.
