I was really hoping for Shields or Santana. Monday's the only day I can go. I guess I really wanted Santana so I could laugh all night at the Angels for trading him to us for a AAAA pitcher.

The Royals are contenders and the Angels are bottom-feeders.

Schadenfreude. Pure Schadenfreude.

A month into the season and time to look at what Myers-Odorizzi-Montgomery are doing in Tampa's AAA farm club (Durham NC). Myers is in a 5-34 slump with 15 strikeouts. He's struck out a whopping 37 times in 105 at-bats with 3 home runs and 5 doubles. This is 2x the rate Hosmer & Moustakas struck out at Omaha. Read one analysis (not sure if fan or scout) who said he's looking less and less like Dale Murphy and more and more like....wait for it.....JEFF FRANCOEUR:
http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx...14&position=OF

-On the other hand, Jake Odorizzi is off to a fantastic start 3-0 2.65ERA. He leads that league in K with 39 already to only 13 walks. He started yesterday and helped throw a combined no-hitter.
http://www.mlbprospectportal.com/201...-odorizzi.html

-Mike Montgomery threw 3 innings, allowed 8 baserunners, got hurt and has been out since. Probably no reason to discuss this guy any longer.

-Patrick Leonard is in A-ball. He is hitting .135 in 96 at-bats so far with 0 home runs.

I hadn't noticed Myers' slump. Could be boredom, I suppose. But the K rate has been alarming ever since he changed his approach prior to last season, and its even more exagerrated than it was before.

I don't think Francoeur makes a ton of sense (because Myers takes more pitches and walks more than Frenacoeur ever did) as a comparison. The one I like is a RH Jay Bruce, though Myers' K rate is even higher as a minor league guy than Bruce's ever was.

Billy driving in runs.

I think Harper was ejected when he spiked his helmet and the ump got a good look at his hair!

Demonpenz 05-06-2013 01:00 PM

No one likes Harper's attitude and his swing means his back will bust harder than the dude at the end of They Live

Oh, he's turning into Frenchy more and more by the day. Frenchy was the 28th best prospect in 2004 and 14th in 2005 in BBA. (Myers 28th & 4th last two years). Both 6-3 205. 18.5% K rate vs 24.9% for Myers. Their power numbers looked eeriely similar at both A & AA ball.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/mi...d=myers-006wil

We'll never know what Frenchy would've done in AAA as he skipped it. But needless to say, Dayton has an eye for Frenchy types. That's why he drafted Myers. :) Either way Myers is looking a lot like Frenchy at least in terms of his ability to make contact.

I love Harper's attitude.

He's the most talented guy on the field every time he's out there, and he plays like he's the least talented guy. Busts his a$$ constantly, just plays hard.

The bullpen is fine. Ned's rationale to pull the starter after eight because he's "done his job" is what's concerning.

Ceej 05-06-2013 06:29 PM

God I hope we piss pound the Orioles.
