I need to try Johnny's again. I got a sammich from them a while back, and it sucked. it was two pieces of plain white bread, and smothered in sauce. I like sauce, don't get me wrong, but the sauce turned the plain bread into a pink dough mess.
meat was decent though; although I was irritated about the bread so it was hard to enjoy the rest of it. I'll give it a shot again though. |
National magazine says KC BBQ ranks behind Texas and Memphis.

You missed a pretty damn good one on the list up there (Not the Poll) Wabash in Excelsior Springs, MO
Edit...I just completely over looked it, my bad. |
I like LC's. Love the big fries. Love the burnt ends and turkey sandwich. Love the sauce. The place is a shithole and the service is the most unfriendly I've probably ever had at an eating establishment, but it's good so I keep coming back. Even though I could get shot, I've been there dozens of times and haven't had any problems yet.
The only time I ate at Arthur Bryants was the one at the casino lol. It was utter shit. I can't judge off of that location though obviously. Gotta try the real thing next time. LC's opened a restaurant in Olathe or Overland Park a long time ago. I believe it's gone now. It was awful. Gotta have that rundown burnt out black smoker that looks like it was a set piece in Nightmare On Elm Street. Just not the same without it. |

At least my cheater smoker can produce better tasting meat than I can buy for any amount of money around these parts. |

I think Gates gets a free pass as a de facto place for good BBQ.
I had tons of other great BBQ around town either by a home smoker/BBQer, or hole in the wall place. Gates is severely overrated, IMO. |

I would say it's the best in Fla. but that wouldn't really be saying much, would it? |
