Tom Curran just confirmed it is only the 2nd rounder (35th overall)

IFthis is true, I'd be happy with it.

NFLN just stated the deal is for the 34th pick (Cheifs second round) for Vrabel and Cassel.

wild1 02-28-2009 01:04 PM

that's what they are talking about on NFL net - "why so little in return?"

Pats will clear $14.5 million for Cassel and close to $5 million for Vrabel

Smed1065 02-28-2009 01:04 PM

For Cassell and Vrabel.

Its on here somewhere, Petro saw Vermeil's draft sheet.

I'm pissed man! I'd rather have another Turk McBride!

the Talking Can 02-28-2009 01:05 PM

i haven't read the thread or processed this yet

but let me say - as I was not for this - that getting him for a 2nd is palatable....assuming....of course...he isn't Scott Mitchell

Pioli rolls the dice....that's why we brought him in

here we go

Considering we only gave up the 34th pick in the draft for him and never had a chance at Stafford anyway....well we aren't really banking our entire future here.

This is actually much more like the time when the Chiefs traded a draft choice for Trent Green and reunited Green with Vermeil.

Vermeil knew Green. Pioli knows Cassel.

arrowheadnation 02-28-2009 01:05 PM

WOW...the 34th pick for BOTH of them? Even better!

That may be. Wha tI am saying is though is for the Chiefs this is one of the better trades we have made in a long time. We traded a 2nd for Trent Green Right? We traded a pick for Edwards didn't we? And didn't we trade a pick for DV?

I could be wrong...but it seems like we got 2 starters, 1 proven 1 with potential, for 1 pick. That is pretty darn good. And we kept our #3.

Which we will trade down the #3 and get a 2nd round pick before all is said and done.

wild1 02-28-2009 01:05 PM

10-5 as a starter,

63.4%

3,693 yards last year

21 td, 11 INT

buddha 02-28-2009 01:05 PM

Some people on this board such douchebags. I swear! Picking up Cassel for a high 2nd and a conditional next year is incredibly smart. You get a guy who has proven he can play at this level...nobody knows anything about the two top QBs in the draft yet, do they? You get Vrabel who is a proven leader and a guy who will make people around him better. Pioli knows Cassel and he knows EXACTLY what he just traded for. Before anybody else acts like Santa just passed them up again this year, why don't you think before you type. Or better yet, if you're convinced this is a bad deal, why don't you come up with an actual REASON why it is.

Don't have a link.
Just something I heard on ESPN Radio last week.

He can't.

He's an immobile Tyler Thigpen; and I think Tyler Thigpen sucks.

This sucks.
