Obviously, not as extreme as the abuses of actual indentured servants. But the principles are the same. A good system in theory but a terrible system when it's run by a bunch of crooks. If these athletes had true choice, like in NHL or MLB, they would have the choice to go pro or minor leagues if they wanted to get true professional training.

It doesn't matter that there isn't another option to get there. They don't have to get there. It isn't required in life. The law won't come hunt them down if they don't do it. That is what indentured servitude is. They have other options in life.

No shit, maybe you should stop making the comparison. Indentured servants don't have a choice. They can't leave until they pay off their debt, which is set up so they never pay it off. A college football player can quit at any time. It is entirely voluntary, to the point that they choose which school, and can even switch schools. Or quit. Nothing like indentured servants at all.
