I saw every one of those 49 shots, and let me tell you, he looked like a 20 handicapper out there.

I don't know if he hit a single drive in the fairway, and the one good look he had at birdie (17) he three putted from 8 feet.

I can't remember the last time I saw a professional golfer have two triples in the same round, much less two triples, a double, and FIVE bogeys.

Dude shot a 49 with a birdie and nine pars.

Talk about scrambling some ****ing eggs...

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-18-2010 10:00 PM

8 straight holes of bogey or worse.

I walk off the course if I play like that.

BWillie 06-19-2010 12:22 AM

I just used this app today on my phone called "how far am I". If you have a gps android phone it is a must have and its free. You can even add your own data. It tells you how far you are from the center off the green on each hole and surprisingly accurate.

kstater 06-19-2010 04:03 PM

After two early bogeys, Tiger has found his swing. Two birdies in a row, and now 15-20 feet for eagle.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-19-2010 04:13 PM

Tiger proving this week what I've always said: Hank Haney is a complete ****ing moron.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-19-2010 04:39 PM

Tiger bogeys 8 to go back to +4, and Phil is making a mess of the 1st after a perfect drive, an overly conservative approach, and an abysmal first putt.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-19-2010 04:49 PM

Casey imploding on the 2nd hole. He has a 12 footer for a 6.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-19-2010 04:54 PM

Phil's distance control on his irons has been awful on these first two holes. He's always been a poor wind player, and I think that the increase in wind is ****ing with him.

WilliamTheIrish 06-19-2010 05:18 PM

McDowell birds again. -5

WilliamTheIrish 06-19-2010 05:19 PM

Mickelson finds the sand and he's got a tough up/down. Another nice pay by (A) Langley on 7.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-19-2010 05:25 PM

Mickelson is absolutely killing himself.

He needed to be at least -1 for the round through 4 holes and -2 through 6.

He'll be lucky to make it through 7 at E

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-19-2010 05:29 PM

7 is almost impossible right now.

Hey William,

Did you ever get your clubs?

WilliamTheIrish 06-19-2010 05:30 PM

Hey Poulter. Shut up and play.

No man. I'm one of those weirdos that sometimes gets buyers remorse. Even over little things like that. They are still available though and I talked to the guy via email. Kinda low balled him and he decided to hold them.

I'm not a big Poulter fan, but he has a point.

That hole with that pin and that wind is goddamned near impossible. The only shot I could think of trying to hit into that is a shot they normally hit from 50-60 yards that takes one bounce and stops, and even that probably bounces to the back edge.

Yeah, but his score is irrelevant. He's the early frontrunner that fades on Sunday. I'd put his chances at winning between 1 and 2 %.

Yea. Accept your fate and move on. Poulter is a guy I like when he isn't crying like a bitch.

Nice play by D. Johnson.

ROFL...I do the same thing. If I think about buying something that isn't absolutely necessary, I usually put it in a cart at the store for like 10 minutes, then decide I don't need it, and put it back. I get remorse before I make purchases.

And Phil birdies 5 to get to E with the last real birdie hole before 18 next.

And Johnson hits a 280 yards 3 iron to 7 feet at 4. Amazing shot.

Jerm 06-19-2010 05:41 PM

Course is playing friggin' crazy right now...almost like playing at Troon, St. Andrews, etc.

On a lot of approaches, you almost have to land it 30 or 40 yards short...Ishikawa's 8 iron to 5 bounced, rolled, and went to the back of the green.

Nuts.

Honestly, I do the exact same thing. Two years ago I bought a TV in Best Buy. Four times.
Me: Yea I'll take it.

Salesman: Okay great. I'll bring one around and we'll...

Me: Wait. No I'm just not ready to make the purchase.

20 minutes later I pick out another model.

Me: I'll definitely take that one.

Salesman: Great. I'll have one brought out. Let's get the paper work...

Me: Welllllllll... I'm not so sure.

The poor guy wanted to kill me.

I'm glad to know there's a support group here at CP ;)

I agree that his score is irrelevant right now. But having wiggle room is important in a US Open. But usually in an Open, once you start leaking oil, the collapse is inevitable.

WilliamTheIrish 06-19-2010 05:44 PM

Nice job by Johnson on 5.

This happens every year in the US Open, but sometimes, a guy can find enough flukish ways to separate himself from the field (Lucas Glover), that his collapse can be absorbed.

WilliamTheIrish 06-19-2010 05:59 PM

What is it with NBC and golf coverage? Do they use a different camera filter? I canot even see a ball once it hits the ground or reaches the green. I've noticed this with their coverage for years.

Is it the color of the greens that doesn't present well?

Jerm 06-19-2010 05:59 PM

7 is just ridiculous now...almost like that 3 Par at Shinnecock a few years back, believe it was 7 too or maybe 13.

Also, wondering if Peter Jacobsen can suck up to Tiger anymore than he already is? Jesus, it's nauseating.

They're not using any filters at all this year.

On 6, but I think that's a product of not having a close camera. Not much of a problem on any other hole.

WilliamTheIrish 06-19-2010 06:14 PM

One guy knows how to play 7.

kstater 06-19-2010 06:14 PM

kstater 06-19-2010 06:24 PM

6th birdie in the last 13 holes.

kstater 06-19-2010 06:35 PM

This is where his caddy has to make his money. 230 yards out and on the upslope and you try to go for it?

WilliamTheIrish 06-19-2010 06:35 PM

Mickelson really caught a bad break hitting the lip of the bunker. laying 2 from from 230

WilliamTheIrish 06-19-2010 06:36 PM

He;s ****ed himself.

WilliamTheIrish 06-19-2010 06:37 PM

It was an absolutely MORONIC play...typical Phil though, has to go for the gusto.

The prudent play there was to lay up, wedge it in, make 5 at the worst...he was lucky to make 6.

kstater 06-19-2010 06:52 PM

Tiger starting to squeeze their nuts.

Jerm 06-19-2010 07:00 PM

Time for Mickelson to make a Back 9 run...I want a Phil/Tiger showdown tomorrow.

Well, I went out to grab some dinner with the padre for Father's Day, and I just got done time shifting to live.

My thoughts about the last 2.5 hours:

McDowell is putting at an absolutely unsustainable rate. Once those start dropping, he's gonna start hemorrhaging strokes.

Johnson is overpowering this course and his touch around the greens is wonderful.

Els is plodding.

Mickelson is like a fighter who has taken a couple of clean shots to the chin and is out on his feet, but is trying to tie up to survive the round.

In the words of Chris Rock, that Tiger went Tiger.

I'm sure kstater's dick is raw from Woods' play on 16-18.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-19-2010 08:22 PM

I hate this ****ing bullshit about tournament golf. Once you miss the fairway, the worse you hit it, the better you are.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-19-2010 08:24 PM

McDowell is the luckiest mother****er on Earth right now.

He hit a huge snipe off the tee and gets in the trampled part of the rough, and then chunks his chip shot (not intentional) and has it roll down to near gimme range.

LMAO

Why is it when I chunk the ball like that I never get that kind of roll?

kstater 06-19-2010 08:29 PM

Over/under combined score of these two tomorrow with Tiger/Ernie/Phil in the immediate 2 groups behind them.

Johnson is a legit player but he doesn't have a lot of experience.

I don't how McDowell is able to walk 7000 yards a day with a horseshoe lodged in his ass.

Looks like the horseshoe just fell out on his walk up to the tee.
