Duncan, can we officially call Merrifield the real deal yet? Or if not - is it 90% likely he's the real deal?

His BABIP is .412, with 2 walks and 19 K's. Jury is still out. Pitchers have been challenging him to start his career and he's making hard contact. Once they adjust, hopefully he's patient and brings that BB/K ratio back in line.

Staumont is kind of a modern day Nolan Ryan. He's basically unhittable but also has awful control.

If he finds a way to get to league average command without losing anything, he's Stephen Strasburg (yes, I realize that sounds ridiculous, but his stuff is FILTHY).

Still need to see how he handles it when pitchers stop filling up the strike zone against him. But I love the way he handles the bat, his swing in general, and the contact skills. Impressive things, all.

The White Sox gave up nothing and only had to take on 1/2 the salary he was owed. Even pitching at the Cell, that's a good deal unless he has gone complete 2015 Jeremy Guthrie.

It's possible he has.

I wasn't mad KC didn't trade for him... Just more of the mindset that KC should start trying to trade with Preller.

But perhaps the word was out on him in the scouting community or something.

I know they didn't give up nothing, but if they're having aspirations to get into the playoffs, they could have done better than Shields. The guy was giving up HR's left and right at Petco, usually a pitchers park.

I wasn't mad either, I just did not want him in KC because his fastball has been declining and his FIP has gone up since he left KC. 3.47 and 3.59 in his 2 years in KC, which is passable. Since he left, it was 4.45 and 4.41. That's a bad sign.

Loge boxes or field reserve if you want to stay out of the sun.

Fountain seats if you want to be in the OF.

I had free all inclusive seats for a Cardinals game a couple weeks of go. It's going to be hard to go back to normal seats after that. All you can eat and drink was very nice.

yeah, my wife gave me Crown Seats for a game last month. We literally sat first row behind the Royals as they were on deck. I could smell their cologne.

What do Crown Seats run? I know they are different for each game but what's the normal ballpark number.

I paid $250/per ticket last year for one of the Pirates game. Most of them have been selling for closer to $350/per this year

you have to buy either as a season ticket ($190/ea I think) or on secondary market. Typically in the $200-350 range depending on game

$225 a piece on stub hub for today's game. Those are towards the Indians dugout side, not dead center.

I had a great time, we ubered to the game, so I got lubricated quite well while enjoying my shrimp, prime rib, and other fare. Then I stuffed myself on the ballpark snacks during the game.

Cubs, .250
Dodgers, .265

They ran at .288 and .299 last two seasons with largely the same pitchers so this might be a reason for optimism if they revert a bit

It's no surprise our number is so consistent given our great defense. Cleveland's defense is a bit better this year and they do course a lot of week contact so they may not revert much or in a noticeable way. That would be nice though.

Personally I would give Glass the credit here, IMO. Every Royals fan alive knew Omar's time was up, not exactly a hard decision for DM to make. The resources for him to do his job comes from the top, and Glass is putting his money where his mouth is and is giving DM the resources to succeed in terms of making decisions that benefit the Royals as opposed to (strictly) the bank account.

Omar news is great news.

He has been awful since the start of 2015, but his contributions in 2014 were likely enough to make the difference between the Royals hosting the playoff game and just being in it.

Was that WC game worth 30+ million to KC? You could make that argument.

Whatever we did and whatever we spent the last 2 years was worth every penny. The present value of all the increased revenue (partic with a generation of fans being won) far outweighs what we spent to get it.

Agree on the empowerment angle, but probably doesn't change the bank account much. Omar getting paid either way, and his replacements are cheap minor leaguers.
