Mahomes arguably has never not had a #1 WR before. Tyreek and then Juju. Now.....MVS? Its a stretch to assume the offense will be AS dominant as it always has.

LMAO

JuJu isn't a #1 WR either dumbass.

Megatron96 05-22-2023 12:05 PM

JuJu was a middling WR2, ranked somewhere between 43rd-50something of starting WRs. Pretty much always his wheelhouse. About midway through the 2022 season he may have fallen out of that tier (44th-55th) if his production was true indicator of his performance.

Thats why I said arguably but he is close to one. MVS isnt even in the same stratosphere as a #1.

Adding arguably doesn't make it any less false. JuJu isn't even arguably a #1. He is a solid #2 and nothing more.

You're still wrong.

No reason that Toney, Skyy, Rice, and even James can't replace the production we lost with him and Hardman.

Our WR group will be better this year.

It can pretty easily/fairly be said that Mahomes has never had a typical NFL #1 WR. Tyreek is a unicorn. He doesn't fit the build nor does his game fit that of a #1. He isn't the type of WR that can just take over a game with size/jumping/catching ability. He does it with speed and he really shines when he can play opposite of a #1 WR to draw away some of the defensive pressure. Kelce played that role for us and Waddle is doing it in Miami. Don't get me wrong, I'd take him back in a heartbeat, but he is not a prototypical #1. I'd just really like to see what Mahomes could do with a true dominant #1 WR.

Our WR group will be better this year.

Their biggest hurdle will be developing the trust of Mahomes

Knowing that as a certainty is a big leap. Its not outside the realm of possibilities but I dont want maybe or even probably better. The next two seasons are that important to Mahomes legacy. I want certainty

You know what was a big leap? Assuming this offense wouldn't miss a beat without Tyreek.

Yet...

But sure, now it might fall apart without JuJu

Mecca 05-22-2023 01:00 PM

The Bills already had their all in year lol...at this point Arizona may just keep him.

Yeah, this is the key point. Our offense will be more than fine. Mahomes and Reid will make it work. They did that and then some last year. it's not panicking that we'll suck. I don't think people appreciate how high this offenses ceiling is if we did have talent at WR. In fact I think a huge problem in 2020 was Sammy Watkins was way more valuable than we realized. You put even a middling (but true) WR1 with the quality depth we have in our new WR room and I don't think anyone will ever assume again that our ceiling is an efficient catch and run offense.

chiefzilla1501 05-22-2023 01:10 PM

And yeah, I assume burrow and Josh Allen when theyre hot they're going to cook even if our defense is top tier. I don't want to rely on the defense to win these games. I want the best version of our offense being realistic that we are obviously not going to have pro bowlers everywhere. And using WR2s as WR1 despite our successes is not that.

O.city 05-22-2023 01:25 PM

The 2022 offense was better than the 20 offense by most every metric.

The Chiefs front office has prioritized the OL over weapons with the money spend and the weapons over the OL in the draft.

They're not gonna go overpay for an older WR on his last legs unless he comes cheap.

We're not as explosive as we once were, it'd be nice to have both elements on offense but hey that's how life goes sometimes.
