I don't know if any of you guys plan on any Canada fishing trips. If you are, here is a place that we went to 5-6 years ago. The five of us in our party caught big hog Northerns and good walleyes. We're planning on going back to this place next
June.

This is not a fly in out post cabin. You can drive to it and fish several lakes that are very secluded.
Its about a 15 hour drive from DSM, Iowa. Its NW of Thunder Bay, Ontario CN.

Just a little information for you. I'm already excited about going and its a year away.

Someone in Canada has evidently broken the rainbow trout world record.

That fish is disgusting, btw.

Just got back from a day at Truman Lake. It was a little slow, but we managed to bring home 10 keeper sized crappie. Largest one was just over 11", the rest between 9" and 10.5". It made for a nice bag of filets.

Hard to beat crappie.

I'm headed out to Santa Fe, NM on Tuesday for a little mini-vacation with the wife. I get one day of fishing during that time. As with most of my hyped-up, overly-anticipated fishing trips, I imagine this one will be a disappointment as far as numbers of fish caught are concerned. That being said, it's always fun to fish in northern NM, regardless of numbers of fish caught.

Well; I haven't had alot of time to go fishing in my farm pond due to working late hours and having to get things done on the farm... However; I know there's some largemouth's in there that's got to be getting pretty close to 8-9-10 pound's by now... Both me and my brother have caught this catfish while bass fishing... It's got to be close to 20 maybe even alittle bigger... Just about the time we get it close to the bank, it will start rolling and then break the 8lb line...

Funny thing is; I usually have a hard time catching them early in the year, and have better luck after it warm's up... I'll have to find time one of these nights and go after work... It's not a big pond, but I know there's some monster bass in there...

I try to go fishing every couple of weeks, no fancy gear or $100 dollar poles. I've never spent more than $35 on a rod & reel combo & they always do just fine.

I had a great day of fishing on Friday, i was at the local lake fishing off the bank at my fave spot & was just killin' large & smallmouth bass, bluegill & even caught a carp. Caught a huge buzzfish too, heh.

15 fish in all.

The only thing i used all day was a white grub with a squiggle tail, which i had taken a red permanent marker to in places, to simulate injury. This thing was freakin magic.

I'm getting ready to move back to my hometown, Jacksonville Ill, and Field & Stream put Lake Jville in its top 50 in the nation for bass, i'm looking forward to tearin' it up over there.

Heres my best catfishing tip - Instead of using the little devices they sell to cram dough bait onto (most of which SUCK cause all of the bait falls off), i use cotton balls that have been mashed thru with bait. You can wrap those things on your treble hook so good that NOTHING will tear it off & you wont have to be constantly jacking with your rig all day.

My son and his buddy have been catching nice 4 to 20 lb. channel-cats at a small state lake here in Se Kansas..my neighbors have been setting limb-lines in the Verdigris River so far their biggest flathead-catfish weighed in at 79 lbs. lucky bastards....

I hit a Stone fly and a Caddis hatch going on at the same time on the Madison last week.....Unreal. Great day of fishing and landed a 7 1/2 pound brown on a salmon fly.

Thirty Four inch snook on a 10 wt with a streamer that looks like white bait last Saturday.

68lb Tarpon a week ago last Tuesday.

I live and Charter in SW Florida on the very north edge of Charlotte Harbor, I fish gasparilla sound and more specifically , catfish creek, bull bay, and turtle bay with the occasional spring early summer Tarpon trip to Pine Island sound to try to catch one laying up. (that's where I stuck the Poon just insied of Redfish Pass.

I've fished up your way in Montana and Wyoming, Maddison, Platt, Snake and Yellow Stone, I've got a killer slough creek story.

Best brown and bow fishing I've ever done was White and North fork of white in Arkansas, and S. Missouri. at Tanycomo (sp?)

I'll stick more snook this week and maybe a Permit and Tarpon to boot.

Just got back from Santa Fe, NM. Fished the Jemez one day and caught a ton of small wild browns and rainbows on dries. Nothing huge, but it was very pretty and a lot of fun.

I think I am having fishing withdrawals, I went almost every day as soon as the weather was nice enough. I havent been fishing for about a month, I just dpnt have the time and Im always so tried after work. Plus we have two 9 week old puppies and my parents stick me with the duties even though the schnauzer puppy is theirs. I have put up some big numbers this year so far, but I gotta get back out there soon. I have caugh 2 fish Ohio Bluegill, one I didnt feel like submitting because I didnt feel like running over to my house to get pictures, I waslk to our neighbors pond and its probably a good 2 miles from my house.

Well, I took the plunge and bought my dream fly rod today. It's an R. L. Winston Boron llx 5 weight, with a life time unconditional warranty. My stop by the factory last week was a big mistake. I tried this rod out in their casting yard. Super light with incredible action. I figured I would give it a week and if I still wanted it, I would buy the damn thing. I am going to go make some "Sales Calls" tomorrow up near Ennis, MT by the Madison river where I cleaned house last week. When I'm done with that (2PM?) I will break this bad boy in. I am going to see If I can tie into that monster again. Anyone else own a Winston Rod?

Hey Otter, wish you were here.

I graduated last year from an Orvis to a Sage. Maybe in a few years I can get me a Winston, and arn't you old enough to know better than to stop by their factory unless your flat broke?
