The NFL is based in Bristol? What, are they time-sharing with ESPN?

You know you ****ed up when cosmo and I agree you ****ed up...

The NFL was invented by the mob...that's a fact. As someone mentioned, it was created to circumvent gambling laws by playing on Sundays. Many of the original team owners/families have ties to the mafia.

It was intentionally structured as an "entertainment" enterprise...which is how the WWF operates also. It hasn't changed since it's inception. No other professional sport is legally arranged like this...it essentially makes it legal to fix outcomes. They are allowed to police themselves without public scrutiny...all discrepancies are handled internally.

They arent legally obligated to produce a fair product...and since the rise of internet gambling and the billions to make off it...only a fool would believe in the "integrity of the shield" PR horseshit. That's just ignorant people projecting their own morality on it. It has never had integrity, never...it cant be sued and has no full-time officiating crew..

It's a sweet set-up.

Well, the one time the league WAS sued, the NFL'S own lawyers argued that people would still watch, even if they knew the games were fixed...and that the ticketholder's ticket entitled him to watch the Patriots play the Jets, nothing more; i.e. the ticket didn't entitle someone to an 'unrigged' matchup.

Exactly...it's all right there. A fan sued the NFL...and ruled they weren't legally obligated to produce a fair product.

If people dont want to acknowledge the above...it's only because they dont want to. The 32 teams arent separate business entities...they share profits. The bigger the audience..the more they all make.

When billions are at stake...to assume corruption isn't taking place is flat-out naive. It was designed to be corrupt from the start...

Not saying the mob wasn't involved but as I recall Mara was a bookmaker.

From The Wall Street Journal

The U.S. sports landscape doesn't have anything quite like the Mara clan. The Maras are a sprawling Irish-American family whose patriarch emerged from the gambling business to create a legendary sports franchise. His descendants have held onto it for nearly a century, winning championships in nearly every era.

Buffalo is way too small a market to win the Super Bowl, and I suspect that neither Kelly nor Marino was interested in owning a team in the long term.

Well tell us then. You have to be completely naive to think the sport isn't shady.

Why even let them make the SB?? Or FOUR of them?

Pasta Little Brioni 02-22-2016 01:15 PM

To be built up and fed to the NFC

ClevelandBronco 02-22-2016 01:17 PM

Of course it's rigged. Every year they only let the best teams play it. Look for the pattern, man.

beach tribe 02-22-2016 01:19 PM

Why spend millions of dollars and man hours scouting for the draft?

You could have any team trade for any pick to get any player and then control whether he succeeds or not.
