Saw something yesterday that said more than 800 players or something like that have already entered the transfer portal since the end of the season. Which I believe was a 250%-ish increase from just last year. Would be an absolute nightmare being a coach and hoping for any continuity these days in college ball.

Minnesota has turned their team over each of the last 2-3 seasons. Part of the reason they are not good. It got the coach fired.

NIL is killing college sports. The have and have nots.
College Moneyball.

The law of unintended consequences is in play. And how many of these athletes will go broke or wont mentally handle it when the faucet shuts off.

Duke, Michigan State, & Purdue only ones to have 4+ starters that they recruited.

According to this, he's already left the team.

Michigan freshman guard Justin Pippen has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on its opening spring entry period, Travis Branham of 247Sports reported on Monday morning.

Pippen has already left the team and will not travel with them to Atlanta as well, Branham reported.

The Chatsworth (CA) native is the son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen and was heralded as an excellent late add to the 2024 recruiting class by Dusty May after his hiring. Pippen saw ample time on the floor throughout the season before a concussion landed him on the bench in the Big Ten Tournament. He was unable to play in either of the Wolverines' first two games of the NCAA Tournament.

I heard someone say that having the transfer portal open on the Monday after the first weekend of the tourney was like NFL free agency beginning the day after Wild Card weekend. It's crazy - and it's also why my "give a ****" meter for college basketball has gone to zero. That and having to watch Harris, Dickinson, and Adams attempt to play basketball the last 2 years.

I also read the Purdue starters are all from Indiana, too.

Michigan has more starters originating from Texas Tech than Texas Tech.

Alabama and Arizona have the same number of starters originating from Alabama.

Big deal, at least he puts it out there. He knows the game, and is right a lot more often than he's wrong. And to be honest, it was more like he was ****ing with you, more than it was with him trying to be right.

And you really didn't put anything out there. All season long you played the "injury card" and once the Dance started, you said that you were playing with "house money" after round 1. In other words, you've given yourself an "out" all year.

FWIW, I thought Kentucky wouln't make it to the Sweet 16 either, until I saw the matchup. Once I saw they drew illinois, I knew Kentucky's athleticism could easily win that game. It was all about the matchup.

Having said that, Ive said all year that my COOGS were a Final 4 team. Here's hoping they beat Purdue and then get to face Kentucky to get there. May the better team win!

Very true. UK playing to its seed against a bad Troy team and a struggling Illinois team doesn't really prove anything either. Now we get into the real competition and real contenders and will see what they are truly made of (which, I expect, will not be very much).

What would you reasonably expect from a coach year 1 that built an entire roster off of transfers, only bringing 1 player from his previous spot and a recruit who hadn’t played in 2 years because he was on a Mormon mission, with substantial injuries to PG?

I said before the season, during non-conference play, and conference play that the expectation should have been to win at least 1 tournament game and they did.

KCC calling a team a fraud when no one had any expectations for them is like dividing by 0.

I think Houston is the second best team in the country currently but is the only 1 seed that doesn’t scare me due the offense not being a threat to go off out of nowhere like Florida or Auburn and doesn’t have a guy like Flagg. Similar to why I think Kentucky matches up well with Tennessee and prefer playing them as a 2 instead of Alabama.

Did not watch it all, but good stuff. It is a joke what is going on in college sports.
