Indians going for it all....

@Ken_Rosenthal: BREAKING: Andrew Miller to #Indians.

Sure-Oz 07-31-2016 06:44 AM

@Buster_ESPN: Yankees expected to get Indians prospects Frazier and Sheffield and others in the trade for Andrew Miller.

@Ken_Rosenthal: No word yet on status of Lucroy trade. Possible #Indians getting both him and Miller. Possible Lucroy deal falling apart.

Sure-Oz 07-31-2016 06:50 AM

@ChrisCarlinSNY: If Sheffield and Frazier in the deal, Yanks get Indians #1 & #5 prospects.

@Joelsherman1: With pen strength broken up have to assume #Yankees now open for business on everything Beltran, McCann, Gardner, Eovaldi, Pineda, Nova

Looking at rebuilding the rotation in 2017:

We have three known commodities coming in: Duffy, Ventura and Kennedy
Coming off the DL, we have Vargas and Minor
Borderline options already on the roster will be Young and Flynn
Potential call-ups include Mills, Almonte, Strahm and Zimmer

The club will decline Medlen's mutual option
Volquez will decline his mutual option

It seems like if you acquired a number 2 type, the rotation would fall into place nicely. Maybe they could look at Cashner in FA if they really want to splash the pot.

Another option to consider is dealing Herrera for an MLB ready starter - if the Dodgers were willing to deal Urias, for example (Herrera is more valuable than Davis both in control and contract dollars). Then splash the pot next year on a premium reliever. Take chances on rebound candidates like Storen or Cecil and hope you capture lightning in a bottle.

Anyone else have any brilliant ideas?

Don't take chances on Drew Storen. He sucks bad.

Going to be very hard to win the division next season

PunkinDrublic 07-31-2016 07:16 AM

Let's not overrate the Indians. They've had great teams on paper before that failed big time.

Al Bundy 07-31-2016 07:26 AM

This is what the Royals get for 2014 and 2015.

Sure-Oz 07-31-2016 07:30 AM

@Joelsherman1: #Yankees also getting 2 RH relief prospects: Ben Heller and J.P. Feyereisen #Indians

Sure-Oz 07-31-2016 08:02 AM

Will the Royals be a WC team at best next season?

Sure-Oz 07-31-2016 08:25 AM

Noooooooooooo

@FlannyMLB: #Royals have released outfielder Travis Snider

Sure-Oz 07-31-2016 08:44 AM

@FlannyMLB: Ned said they should find out Wade Davis' MRI results around 11:30 this morning https://twitter.com/shizzyrocks/stat...56758873022470

Sure-Oz 07-31-2016 08:57 AM

Lmao wow!

@Haudricourt: Jonathan Lucroy has exercised his no-trade clause and vetoed trade from #Brewers to Indians. Details to come.

Coach 07-31-2016 09:18 AM

I don't understand that. Why would you veto it if you have a very good chance of getting into the playoffs with the Indians, than you would as a Brewer?

Edit: To get rid of the club option, that would be understandable, but good luck, no team is going to remove it.

True, but not always. It could be a strained forearm for all we know.

On the other side of the discussion, if it does result an TJS, it could be in a way, a blessing in disguise that I believe the Royals have a club option on Wade, and the Royals probably would decline that option, thus freeing up 7.5 million, while having to give out a 2.5 million buyout (Similar to what just happened to Holland).
