The NY Media would love his two hoppers to second. 1B is a premium power position, I would be surprised if NY wanted to chain that position to a player who hasn't shown evidence he can reliably eclipse 20 homers a season.

I love Hos, but at this time he's simply a "good, at times great" player who has put together some of the most clutch hits in Royals history. Shelling out superstar money for him would be stupid, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers, Dodgers or Angels decided to oblige.

I think the best comp for Hosmer is Mark Grace at this point. He's a good player, but the stroke is just not conducive to consistency or driving the ball for power.

I'd be Ok with keeping Hosmer around on a Belt-sized contract, but he likely will get more than that.

Hosmer has the second highest groundball percentage in all of baseball. Additionally, he is tied for 10th lowest in all of baseball in flyball percentage. Those numbers make any hopeful-increases in production at Yankee Stadium minimal and irrelevant. Unless Hosmer makes adjustments to his shitty swing, he is going to be a career nothing.

EDIT: Can you imagine the hilarity of Hosmer trying to pull baseballs to the short porch in right at Yankee Stadium 81 times a year?
