Who exactly do you want to replace that resume with....?

Some dumb ****ing people on this board.

no shit LMAO

Bill Self runs one of the best programs in college basketball and it's not even debatable. It's top 2, and even people who want to argue that can't argue it's not, at worst, top 5.

Kansas has a great program and history on it's side, but that doesn't mean you can't screw it up. UCLA and Indiana have both made multiple poor coaching decisions. Kentucky didn't win a tournament game under Billy Gillespie. North Carolina completely went in the tank under Matt Doherty.

This. My God. Going from Roy to Self (who is better by the way) has spoiled us. For ****s ****ing sake, 2 years ago, the almighty Calipari lost in the first round of the NIT (in Rupp) to Robert ****ing Morrison. I will take Self and this over that. Not to mention the extreme risk of vacating wins.

Yeah, Calipari is unstoppable this year, but it hasn't worked every year.

Roy has missed the NCAA a few time. Kazoo has been out of the NCAAs early a bunch too.

Is making the tourney every year good enough if we're going out in the round of 32 or sweet 16?

I spent the past few nights watching great teams from 2003, 2005, etc etc and I feel no connection to this year's squad as I did them. Cliff was a disaster but maybe Black Panda needs to go if we're just going to get the same bullshit every year?

Why don't we have Baker or this Weasel guy? Why do we only look to Baltimore, TX, Chicago and Oak Hill?? Maybe start doing some real recruiting work and stop relying on Rivals to make all your choices for you.

That's all I'm saying. Bill's gettin a little fat..... you could see it on TV today.

Oh, STFU with that bullshit. Do you know what D1 schools recruited Ron Baker? Not ****ing one of them. He walked on at WSU and redshirted. His freshman year was the year Morningstars dad paid his tuition because we were out of scholarships. There was no place at KU for him when he came out. And even if there was, he wasn't getting in. He was still a very good 3A player from Western ****ing Kansas. Even then, he wasn't half the player in school as he is now. He was really good, but he didn't have the size to play the physicality, and he wasn't (or at least didn't play) nearly as quick. His ascent is a function of training. Not recuritable measurables.

Self said he dropped the ball on recruiting Baker, but he said the same shit about Buddy Hield less than a month ago. Fact is, William Goddamned Self is not going to Scott Community High School basketball games to unearth the next Ron Baker. I know because I was there. And his brother was a senior this year.

There isn't a bigger Ron Baker fan that doesn't reside in a Baker household than me. But to try and say Self ****ed up because Ron Baker is not a jayhawk is completely uneducated and I'm ****ing tired of it (I have to listen to it from the townfolk every ****ing day, so it is a bit of a sore spot).

Don't think I've ever cared less about a tourney exit. We all knew what this soft team was and they proved it again today. Nothing remotely surprising about how the game went. Self honestly did well to get as much as he did out of them to maintain the streak at 11.

As far as next year goes, it's going to be nice to have Frank, Devonte, and Svi back and getting better. They'll certainly need to. Unless soft Perry Ellis and the baffling Wayne Selden have less responsibility in 2015-2016, we'll probably be right back in this same spot next year.

And it goes without saying that I really hope Self is working on recruiting a big or two. With Cliff gone, we've never been so thin there. Thon Maker?

Good post here. I expected it. Every time the game digresses to a rugby game, KU loses. I think it is a function of not practicing that way.

And I agree that it is miraculous that he did what he did with these guys. In December, I'd have called you a fool if you thought this team would do all this.

This isn't exactly a bad loss. Forget the seeds, WSU was just as good as this team if not better during the actual season.

This. And it really isn't good for anybody. KU didn't need to play WSU (or IU for that matter) and WSU shouldn't have had as tough of a draw as KU to get to the S16.

The pressure to coach for a blue blood would be like a freaking pressure cooker turned way up ready to explode. High expectations.

Those fans should probably realize that the grass isn't always greener. Enjoy these years with Self while he's still here because we may be lucky to hold on to him after his son graduates (or even sooner if Popovich retires). It's been an incredible run of success under him.

You think he wants to go to the Spurs? They're about done aren't they? I wouldn't want to be on a rebuilding project ESPECIALLY in the west.

It was probably good for CBS/Turner and the NCAA. No other reason for WSU to have been seeded there other than the matchup.

I think his old friend RC Buford would want him.

One day of ncaa prep:

Izzo. 20-4
Self. 10-7

Just sayin

tk13 03-22-2015 10:17 PM

Izzo's a high bar to set. He coached in his 60th tournament game today. The only two coaches with more tourney wins after 60 games are Krzyzewski and Wooden. That's a pretty good list.

ArrowheadHawk 03-22-2015 10:21 PM

If anybody want's to start a thread for next year that's cool with me. My mojo is dead.

BigRedChief 03-22-2015 10:22 PM

This team has underwhelmed me all year. Seems to me that they should be better than they are playing. Way too much talent for their performance level on the court. I'm not sure of the history here and the background on the players. But, I know Self isn't the problem.

Anyone who thinks its Self's fault and he should be fired is a ****ing idiot.

Those 2 have been MAJOR disappointments on both sides of the ball all season long with exception of just a handful of games...if that.

They're all pretty soft save for Mason and Perry for the month prior to injury. Softness usually isn't there.

Stick around. There is good basketball to be watched over the course of time.

Selden for sure. We were all cumming all over ourselves because we had landed Selden. Then Wiggins came....Thank god.

Exactly......When Self is down to his last timeout with 15 ****ing minutes left.....that's a clue.
This team just couldn't play 20 consistent minutes of ball. Worst help defense ever for a Self coached team. On ball defense wasn't much better. They just weren't very good....
And it looked like they didn't care for the most part......Got beat to EVERY loose ball....

Its a miracle they won their 11th conference title....****ing Miracle.

Reerun_KC 03-23-2015 07:24 AM

Buehler texted me yesterday as I was flying... I got his text in when we quick turned in Dallas yesterday. He said don't watch, so I haven't watched.

I am glad this season is over. The historic collapse at the end of the year was a huge sign on how the tourney was going to go. We all knew we wouldn't make it out of the first weekend. I am shocked they beat NMST to be honest....

Well thanks for the fun season worth of banters and trash talk amongst my KU buddies... Til next year.
