He IS kind of a prick, but I would have loved to have him in our rotation . . . . .

Sure, but Royals weren't the only team that thought he may only be a bullpen guy due to delivery/size. This one does hurt given our struggles developing pitching.

Seems to be very little noise about Eddy and Kendrys. Surprised Eddy isn't generating more interest. He hasn't been great, but stuff looks fine and he has post-season pedigree.

Colin is the only one of those who wasn't viewed as a logical/good pick at the time, and the MLB draft is probably the toughest one to judge with hindsight.

It's frustrating that the Royals first round picks other than Moustakas and Hosmer have not turned into core players/stars for the team, but that's not atypical around MLB, either.

The Colon one is the one that's most frustrating, because they were planning to take Sale until right before the pick, reportedly. That was the only "reach" pick, and it was seemingly made because the org had a hole at SS in its system and a plethora of LH pitching prospects.

Zimmer is just bad luck. Team hasn't done anything wrong there.

Starling looks like a bad pick and is also frustrating, but was justified at the time.

The other thing that I really think back to other is finishing a 1/2 game worse than Baltimore rather than a 1/2 game better that year. KC takes Machado in that case, and the whole landscape probably changes. Including the Greinke trade.

Are they going to try and make him start again?

This team has a 20% of finishing at .500. They can't hit and when they do, they can't pitch.

Yeah, the Starling draft was the most frustrating to me. The consensus was the Top 4 pitchers and then Starling and then everyone else. The Royals would have taken any of the Top 4 had they fallen and they REALLY wanted Bundy, reportedly. They were kind of a backed into a corner and HAD to take Starling because of his status and being a local kid. If they didn't pick him and he 'Hit' then they would have never heard the end of it from fans and 'experts' . . . . .

It kind of sucks the way some of those picks and results went down, but then again, as you say, one difference and the whole landscape changes. Maybe good, maybe bad.

What I do know is since those drafts the Royals have two pennants and a trophy and neither the Orioles or the White Sox have won jack shit (well, unless you count a division title), so while some of the picks would be nice, I'll take the results of the 'process' and trust GMDM and the scouting department are doing everything they can to set us up to be a successful franchise going forward. Even if that may mean an occasional 'miss' on a draft pick.

I guess so...I'd think they'd take Volquez mutual option if he isn't traded

I think at this point they have no other choice than to put him back there and hope it works, right?

I really hope this happens just to see the inevitable fireball when it all goes up in flames.

Agreed. Who knows how different things are if they have Machado... Maybe they don't make the trade with Milwaukee. Maybe Machado doesn't develop the same way, etc.

I'll take the results. No complaints here, really.

The Dodgers seem hellbent on moving Puig, though. He started in one of the past nine games, and that was yesterday.
