Petro is the guy who pontificated on air about how you can't ask certain people certain things because you want to make sure you can secure future interviews with them. His questions will be softballs, and I would be shocked if we learned much new...

"Mr. Hunt, let's be frank: Disappointing season, no?"

O.city 12-31-2012 11:01 AM

OK again, Scott is reported to have his hands in everything and be in complete control over the roster, coaches etc.

So, he is the reason for the embarrassment, correct?

Nick Saban, here's a blank check, the No. 1 overall draft pick, 5 Pro Bowlers, and equal personnel say-so than your old pal the GM.

**** that with a spork. Can we please, PLEASE get away from the diseased tree that is Cleveland when Belichick was there?

Belichick is succesful due to Tom Brady, period.

However, its not reasonable at all to say this means Pioli is staying and they are trying to finesse it.

If the Chiefs were 100%, for sure, hell-bent on keeping Pioli, they would probably go dark. They'd ignore all the criticism and the questions, not respond to anyone for any reason, and hope that a new coach and the passage of time will make people forget about it by September.

If you are Hunt and you were for sure keeping Pioli, this statement isn't really smart. By saying "I might fire him" and then later deciding to keep him, you've just kept the talk and the SOC outrage going.

reasonable points, I still think Clark is lying. How do you even consider keeping Pioli after this unless you are just completely out of the loop?

Parkins just finished discussing Andy Reid. Said he's got ties -- Mark Donovan worked with him, of course. Said Reid has no interest in FO/player personnel. So, I would keep an eye on Reid. Not my favorite, but a step up for sure.

You people must learn patience. Spend eighteen hours every day under the lash of my wife's whip and you'll soon understand patience.

It doesn't.

It means one of two things, or both.

Clark Hunt is a pussy, and doesn't want to get his hands dirty.

Clark Hunt cares more about money than doing the right thing.

Either is a poor reflection on our owner.

It could also mean that he likes Pioli and thinks he would be better suited to do what he did in NE. I think that very well could be Hunt's plan. Bring in his own "Belichick" to run the team and make final roster moves. Either way, Clark wins. He gets to remove Pioli from the Decision making process, infuse a new big name HC who now has complete control (a Cowher, Gruden, Kelley etc), and save money that would otherwise been flushed down the toilet.

I'm going out on a limb here----

So much for Chip Kelly...

trndobrd 12-31-2012 11:03 AM

Maybe Clark is going to wait and fire Pioli during half time of the home opener.

There is also a scenario where he wants to know the full replacement scenario before making a move. Let's not pretend that all the options are bad. Keep in mind we knew herm would be fired right after pioli was hired, but they didn't fire him until they knew Haley was on board. That happened very late.

You could be right. But there's a scenario where you're wrong. If he's looking for a head coach first, that isn't a bad approach to bring in a retread.

The full replacement scenario?

There's not a single person a HC could want as GM that could do as much damage as Scott Pioli has done. Keeping him in ANY capacity sends a message to the league and the fanbase that Clark's OK with a toxic environment at 1 Arrowhead Drive.

Holy ****, some of you will rationalize anything.

First question from Petro should be:

"Ok Clark, let's hear it."

O.city 12-31-2012 11:03 AM

This is the absolute most important time for the Chiefs going forward, likely in their history.

If you are gonna fire the head of scouting, GM, and personnel, you best do it as soon as possible to get your new guys in and get shit rolling.

Excellent point. I thought it was a given he was going to be out fast along with Norv.

That would work great. ONLY if we are able to draft the best QB of all time...

petegz28 12-31-2012 11:03 AM

Here is how it is going to go down...

Clark: Scott, I am hiring Arians as coach

Piloi: WTF? He is not from NE or Cleveland

Clark: I know but that's the guy I am hiring

Arians: We are drafting a QB #1

Piloi: But we can trade down and draft lineman that we need

Arians: **** your lineman, we need a QB worth protecting

Pioli: But if we trade down we can use oen of those picks to get that little ****er from NE

Arians: What part of QB is not getting through to you?

Clark: STFU, Scott, we'ere getting a QB

Pioli: You guys are mean, I'm going home

And you've kept a guy int he building that has created the most toxic environment in professional sports.

Awesome.

That just means Clark cares more about money than winning.
