Interestingly, Beane did throw Moore some professional shade by saying something to the tune of "You don't expect players as talented as Manaea to be available for a half-season rental."
For a gentleman that traded away Addison Russell for Jeff SAMARDIAJIZZA and Jason Hammel, it was a heel thing to say. Kiss the ring, Beane. |
Too soon to be talking about getting rid of Morales. He had some good AB's, just rotten luck.
Hopefully last night's game gets him going. |
Any chance he just hits right handed full time. His left handed swing is dogcrap

I'd be surprised. For his career, he's been a very even performer from both sides. More likely this is just a blip for him (or a sign that he's done, overall). Re: trading Ventura, if he continues to pitch well, I doubt they move him. Would be unlikely to get the combination of upside and control they have with him in return. IMO, he only gets moved if continues to be a roller coaster, or in the offseason if someone blows KC away with an offer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

More concerned with Escobar. He is lucky Mondesi screwed up... there might have been a controversy later this year. |

It boggles my mind that Royals fans of all people are so quick to give up on players like Ventura and Duffy. We have seen the results patience with players brings and it won us a World Series.
Their potential is still great, they have each had long stretches of pitching well as starters, and Ventura especially is still young. And frankly they are our best options. |

One of the greatest trolling statements ever. LMAO |
Quote:
Im so glad they have Mondesi in the system, because they'll rightly cut bait with Escobar after 2017. Mondesi has a lot more tools offensively and more power/power potential, but his lack of contact and patience are real question marks. Still, the potential is there to produce Escobar-level defense with .700+ OPS figures, which is a nice upgrade offensively. There's also a decent chance that, like Salvador Perez for a Royals example or Francisco Lindor for a non-Royals examples, he produces much more with the bat in the major leagues than he did in the minors (or than his minor-league production would suggest). |
Quote:
You are just wrong. Mondesi is the clear heir apparent to SS. Escobar is the worst hitting everyday player in the American League, if mondesi weren't suspended, I would not have been surprised if they would have refused his option this off season. The writing is on the wall. |

Let's also keep in mind that Mondesi is all of 20 years old.

Matt Boyd, Royals opposition tonight has a favorable-BABIP against of .257, yet still has an ERA of 4.91. Guy's FIP is a cool 5.39, doesn't strike a ton of batters out, and has been walking a decent amount of batters in his 25.2 IP at the major league-level this year, so we should fully expect to take this one with Volquez pitching at home. Additionally, he doesn't generate many whiffs with his breaking pitches... so on paper this is a pitcher that the Royals should crush.
Or get CGSHO'd. :) Last year, the Royals faced him 4 times in just two months: got to him pretty good twice and let him off the hook twice. |

I love Mondesi though. Very excited to see him progress in the next few years. |

In his third start with the Sox, Shields has given up 4 runs without recording a single out.
At least he's been consistent. |
Shields killing it again:

Lower K/9 rate, higher BB/9 rate, decrease of over 2 mph on his fastball since 2014. All of those innings are probably finally catching up to him; or he is mechanically out-of-whack like he was for the first month or two of 2014 with the Royals (to a much more severe extent).
His K/9 rate was 9.61 last year and was 7.26 before tonight's game, which is okay, and even in the middle of what he averaged when he was on the Royals ('13: 7.71, '14: 7.14). However, he isn't benefiting from Kauffman Stadium or the Royals defense any longer. Could potentially also be more evidence to his higher BABIP and sky-rocketed HR/FB rate. Plus he's giving up more hard-contact than he has since the year 2010 (by far his worst year as a starter..well, before this year). |

Poor Shields - he can't even get a break with a hard hit ball right at someone.
|
Finished with 8 runs allowed in 1.2 IP tonight. Just brutal. His last four starts he's pitched 11.1 IP and allowed 31 ER.
It's one thing to decline, he's fallen completely off the face of the earth. That's about as bad a 4 start stretch as you'll ever see. |

Good thing the Royals were smart enough not to get him back that some national folks were thinking they should.
The signs were there in last year and early on this year. His FIP was a near full run more than 2014. |
Who was bitching at someone that called him guthrie?

The last 28 days for Kendrys Morales, he is .261/.363/.420 with a OPS of .783. I think it's safe to say that he's getting back to the normal line.

So is Zimmerman good still? Chris Young tomorrow in this heat, over under on 2 and a half home runs allowed?

Shame it ended like it did but it was cool when he was here. |
I also forgot about Tejada and his pretty obvious PED use back in 2013. Kind of a weird chapter in the rise of the Royals. I seem to recall him being the piece that got KC out of a terrible slump and back into the playoff race. Then randomly placed on 60-day DL, and soon after suspended. It might have been crawling back into the 2013 playoff race that gave them experience to break through to the wildcard game in 2014.
