Now we have proof: we didn't "change the game" or break projection systems at all. We had a very good team that was set to win its division with ~86 wins. That roster hit its prime.....and DM supplemented with an incredible offseason where he bought 10 full wins and made it the best team in MLB. Then added 2 all stars at the deadline to create a World Champ.

The PECOTA projections for this year on all our players were deadly accurate. I can post them next. If you ask me nicely

Pete's chart was probably more accurate. ROFL

What smells worse, the projections or Sex Panther?

Duncan, do you think the Royals could sell pricier, short-term pieces this winter to brighten the future? Pieces like Moose, Cain and Esky (maybe he has value to someone?)

We have clear successors to Moose and Esky in place already and Cain's range is wasted in right field.

I doubt it.

The Royals have kind of one last shot in 2017 with this group. I'd expect payroll to increase a tick for 2017, then drop in 2018 and beyond as they retool/reload the roster.

Those types of players would not be traded, IMO, unless they can get an immediate and great return for them for 2017 and beyond. It would have to be someone who could step in and improve the team right away.

I expect either Bonifacio or Dozier to be the everyday RF by the end of 2017. Cuthbert is used, IMO, as a DH/3B/1B player, IMO. That will let them give Moustakas plenty of rest for his rebuilt knee, and if Cuthbert can be a solid .280/.330/.450 hitter, that production is OK from your D. You'd also hope that he might improve a bit, which is something he has shown in the minors.

Just can't see them breaking up the band yet.

If Ian Kennedy can find a way to get his HR to his pre-2015/2016 figures he's going to be effective for KC going forward. He has a great strikeout rate and his ERA now is at 4.03 (below league average) even while leading the league in home runs given up.

TomBarndtsTwin 08-04-2016 01:04 PM

Well, Kennedy pitched well today, and didn't give up any home runs.

So there's that . . . . .

We must find a way to sign Hoch and Holland to the two-year injury bounce-back contracts that DM created for Medlen/Minor

Cant eat that contract. Gonna have to deal with it and hope hes better next season.

Dozier is playing RF tonight in Omaha. That's all I got for you tonight.

Anyong Bluth 08-04-2016 06:07 PM

God, re-signing Soria just irks the shit outta me. I knew he was beyond his expiration date. Then to add fuel to the fire, he's not anywhere close to a club friendly contract.

There's a problem when you expect if he's coming in to pitch that at least 1 run is probably a given, and it's 50/50 if it's a save situation that he'll blow the lead.
