The choice here is between an athletic passrusher to replace Dwight Freeney (since I hate the two guys they've brought in) or to plug in a huge body at NT.

I'm going with the more important position, and the more gifted athlete.

The Colts draft OLB Corey Lemonier, Auburn.

The Franchise 03-24-2013 12:34 PM

The Seattle Seahawks select Vance McDonald, TE, Rice.

I went back-to-back on offensive line picks with the Chiefs and Packers, and I feel soiled. That's gotta stop.

Dujuan Harris and James Starks. For ****'s sake, McCarthy, it's not that ****ing hard to find a goddamn RB who isn't a piece of shit you ****ing fat ****.

The Green Bay Packers select Johnathan Franklin, RB, UCLA

Packers gotta find the next Ahman Green if they want to truly take pressure away from Aaron Rodgers. I've given them plenty of excellent RBs over these CP mock draft seasons (Demarco Murray, Bernard Pierce) and they all seem to fall on deaf ears. Brandon Jackson and Alex Greene are NOT suitable for this kind of work, contrary to popular belief in Green Bay. All I can do is keep trying to get them to see the light.

Franklin is shifty, fearless, explosive off the handoff, and tough for a kind of lightish guy. His fumbling problems practically disappeared in his senior season, though that will continue to be something to watch. I actually think he's got the most upside and potential out of this entire class of RBs.

I didn't realize Dallas Thomas had been taken. If he hadn't, I was just going to take him and pass on all the rest of my picks because I'd have locked this bitch up. Oh well, I'm left with a series of options I don't love at this point, but I'll live.

Schaub takes some heat for being a game manager and really, he's not an elite passer so it's fair. That said, he's better than he's given credit for, he's just never had a credible #2 WR opposite of Andre Johnson.

Well this guy isn't exactly the flanker I was hoping for (those dreams died when Rogers and Patton went off the board...especially Rogers), but he's a fast kid with solid hands and good production. He's thick through his upper torso and should be able do a lot of damage after the catch, which will be nice given the attention the safeties have to pay Houstons running game.

The Houston Texans select - Ryan Swope, WR - Texas A&M

He's a bigger, stronger Tavon Austin with the same top end speed and comparable quickness. He's no threat to one day replace Andre, but he's a fine complement to him. Matt Schaub will be grinning from ear to ear at the thought of finding this guy on crossing routes.

You guys are gonna hate what I am planning to do with the 9ers next pick, but it is outside the box thinking.

The Franchise 03-24-2013 04:10 PM

He's going QB.

Nightfyre 03-24-2013 04:16 PM

Actually, I'm not. Though there is one very obvious option at QB I do like.

Denard Robinson isn't really that outside the box...

I agree with Franklin's potential to be one of the better RB's in this draft. I took him for the Patriots in this same round in the Alt draft.

And the playoffs strongly suggest:

Phillip Thomas, FS, Fresno State

In a classical Belichick move, the Pats draft on BPA to create personnel options within the next year on this value pick.

The New England Patriots select Manti "Catfish" Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame.

Direckshun 03-24-2013 08:16 PM

I think Johnathan Franklin has the ability to be the Next Big Thing, honestly, for the NFL.

I think he has the talent to really take off in this league, and he has a reportedly magnetic personality with sky high character.

Liked the Vince McDonald pick. The guy is a physical beast. Will need a coach that can turn him into something.

BossChief 03-24-2013 08:27 PM

With Chase Daniels going to Kansas City and the team not having a quality backup, I was thinking I would be shooting for a backup in the 5th or later, but I think Tyler Wilson is a guy that is a first round talent that is still on the board in the late third.

This is strictly a BPA pick that gives the Falcons a quality backup the next few years that can play for stretches and keep the team on the tracks, if needed. A similar pick as Mallett, Russel Wilson and Kirk Cousins...and this is about the point in the draft where a pick like this can be made for a team like Atlanta.

In the third round of the 2013 CP Mock Draft, The Atlanta Falcons select

Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas

Nightfyre 03-24-2013 08:41 PM

The San Francisco 49ers selet Bennie Logan, DT, LSU I think Logan could be an interesting player in the 4-3 under set as a 3-tech to provide some push opposite of Justin Smith. He would only fit in their defense in this role; however, he fell so far that the 49ers just couldn't resist.
