good luck with that.

"we didn't draft him at #3, no way is he our franchise qb, stupid true fan n00b." draftubators.

It is entirely possible that Cassel can be a franchise QB, but Haley is going to have to tweak his system to fit Cassel's strengths and minimize his weakness, an arm comparable to Matt Leinart's.

You clearly don't know what the hell you are talking about.

No offense intended.

Combine scouting reports say the same: he is good on slants and short-intermediate throws, but can't hit the deep outs & seam passes with consistency. His long passes lack zip & tend to float.

He needed to stay in college.

Either way, it's exciting that we're being extremely active in trying to get this thing turned around.

it's amazing and long overdue..the Chiefs have definitely not only changed the face of the franchise, but the way they operate.

This is the most pivotal time in recent Chiefs history, and I'm stoked...it's refreshing to not even have a clue what will happen next.

Major Kudos to Clark!

If nobody wants to trade down Curry is now the obvious pick assuming Detroit doesn't get him.

Not a fan of Cassell, but a 2nd for him and Vrabel? Can't be mad at that.

I never really thought of Haley's system as a deep ball system.

I thought of it as more intermediate routes.

Cassel's arm strength is not as bad as people on here have commented.

Stewie 02-28-2009 01:15 PM

If all this is true and it's just a 2nd rounder all I can say is HOLY CRAP! Nice job Pioli.

Possibly, but it was still a bad deal when you consider how long Green played for KC.

Good. It is unrealistic to throw long bombs every play. As long as Cassel can get the ball over the line of scrimage and into a receivers hands forpositive yardage... that is fine.

I'm not crazy about Cassel, but that comment is just nuts. The video I've been watching on him proves this wrong. Just sayin'.

Vermeil knew Green. Pioli knows Cassel.

And Cassel is much younger. ESPN was just saying that in New England they know him to be a tape warrior and a hard worker on and off the field. Say he has followed Brady closely while in NE and the players love him. Also said he has shown excellent mechanics and decision making when breaking down the tape of his 1st year.

Hopefully we've just skipped the 1st year growing pains.

Now we need a WR, O & D linemen

The Bad Guy 02-28-2009 01:16 PM

I would think the 3rd pick has to be Curry now.

Linebacker and DE need to be addressed, but more so linebacker with the Chiefs moving to a 3-4.

He fell to the second because of his size. He isn't that "prototypical qb" the league drools over. I personally find that shit to be the reason so many qbs fail: teams look for 6'4", 230+lbs, with a rocket arm, rather than can the kid play?

I find it funny guys like Hamas bash Chase Daniel (and I don't know shit about him so I have no opinion) but are mad because the Chiefs didn't draft Drew Brees (also a midget) and traded for Green instead.

I guaran****in'tee you that if the Chiefs drafted Brees #12 overall that season Hamas and the drafturbators would have been LIVID because he doesn't have prototypical NFL size...GUARANTEE IT!

They are using hindsight to bash Trent Green for no reason. Plain and simple.
