We’ve called nose tackle Phil Taylor one of this draft’s wild cards, with folks saying he’s a boom or bust player who intrigues 3-4 teams as perhaps the best run stuffer in this class.

One of those 3-4 teams, the Chiefs, is “very interested” in Taylor. King calls Taylor a “good match” for the team. It’s at this point we’ll remind you that only King had the Tyson Jackson-to-Kansas City pick nailed years ago, days before the draft.

TFY Insider’s Tony Pauline has also heard that the Chiefs are interested in Taylor, saying they are “set to take” him.

oh, I'd be ok with us picking him in the fourth or fifth round if we believe he's back fully from cancer. he's hella talented, but does he still have it? he's definitely the type of guy we'd pick.

This. Plus if we let Smith leave....we're back to having no depth at the DE position.

I've pretty much accepted that Taylor was our best option for awhille now, if it's not him I expect Akeem Ayers...if it's not one of those 2 I may double take.

You need more than 3 DL players. They rotate and Smith is more valuable as a rotational guy than a starter.
