The full replacement scenario?

There's not a single person a HC could want as GM that could do as much damage as Scott Pioli has done. Keeping him in ANY capacity sends a message to the league and the fanbase that Clark's OK with a toxic environment at 1 Arrowhead Drive.

Holy ****, some of you will rationalize anything.

If Pioli became GM in name only and could not fire the HC/real GM, what do you care if Pioli is cashing checks running non-personnel football operations? At that point, Pioli would become about as important as the VP of marketing, and all focus would be on the guy with the power.

In corporations I've worked for, it is always easier to take over something when there is a transition period. If you walk into a mess, it takes time to sort through it.

Whoever the new coach is, they will likely be able to hire a new GM if they wish, but more than likely will be stuck with most of Pioli's scouts and lieutenants until after the draft, when personnel contracts usually expire.

Either that or Clark is just delusional in thinking that a new coach would take Pioli as his GM. But he did the same thing with Herm...

IF you bring in a new GM, scouts etc, it's because you want things run different than they are currently being ran.

Why would you want said GM to have anything to do with the next path your are going?

He just neutered Pioli.

That is how I take it.

If you had an employee that destroyed your company from the inside out, would you be willing to keep him in the building in ANY capacity?

Of course you wouldn't. You'd get him as far way from the rest of your employees as ****ing possible.

So again, why do this?

Why strip the guy of the exact things you hired him for, keep him on and pay him for nothing?

He's being payed, handsomely, to be the GM. If you do what you just said, then it's all about the money and not winning, therefor I shouldn't give a shit.

It's the classic Michael Scott/Ryan Howard Temp relationship.
