What a wonderful round of golf... Great job JS...

Edit: What a wonderful tournament!

There's no tournament like the Masters. Spieth is a genuine dude. Very happy for him.

I kept expecting some stupid error like accidentally moving the ball in the pine straw or a scoring error disqualification

KC_Connection 04-12-2015 05:06 PM

Did not expect Spieth to handle the pressure so well, though it helped that nobody ever got closer than 3 shots. What a putting display this week.

American golf has its contender against McIlroy.

Time to upgrade.

He can do better, by far.

CBS' coverage this weekend was pitiful. It's abject ignorance to compare this performance to Tiger's in '97. This course was toothless in comparison. There's a big difference between finishing at -18 when two are at -14 behind you and finishing at -18 when the next closest competitor is -6.

To get close to Tiger's performance, Spieth would have needed to shoot around 265.

Dude's going to be stone bald in three years. That's well beyond his coverage in normal life. The PGA Tour is filled with guys who married gold-diggers. I'm sure he'll run into one, too; don't worry.

Yeah I was thinking that as well. When Tiger set the mark, he shot -18 while most of the field was -2 or less.

I think you are probably right....still don't know why they didn't dry out the course and make the greens harder and faster....

I went and looked it up. Only 6 guys shot better than -2 when Tiger set the record. Almost half the weekend field shot +3 or worse.

Tom Watson actually finished 4th too. That was his last top 5 finish in a major until he almost won the British in 09.

tmw4h5 04-12-2015 05:23 PM

I wonder how long it will take UA to pry Titleist/FJ/Acushnet from Fila.

Didn't they lengthen the course after that Tournament to "Tiger Proof" it?

Can't really blame them too much. CBS has to build up Spieth any way they can, need that American star as Tiger/Phil decline.
