So, Volquez had the worst start by an MLB pitcher in a century. At least we got to see history.

Nightfyre 06-25-2016 07:44 PM

So about our rotation....

BigCatDaddy 06-25-2016 07:46 PM

Heard Medlen is having a good night in Omaha. 5ks 1 R in 4 innings

Was it? Jeremy Guts set a record last year with 11 runs + 4 HR in a 1 IP outing. Did Eddie outdo that?

suzzer99 06-25-2016 08:11 PM

When is Vargas back? I'd settle for average Vargy in a heartbeat at this point.

Can Hoch start again?

Kris Medlen save us!

Next year.

Doubt it.

It also looks like Minor is a ways off if ever again used as a starter.

Trade for Chi Chi Gonzalez

Chiefs Pantalones 06-25-2016 08:47 PM

The Royals have a negative run differential.

Have any teams made the postseason with a negative run differential? ;)

suzzer99 06-25-2016 08:52 PM

Is any team so far out of it they're ready to deal a starter yet? Braves or Twins got anyone good?

We have zero trade bait. None. This is the team we have going forward, sink or swim.

We actually have quite a bit. The trick will be deciding whether or not it will be better to go all in during 2016 or 17.

Sure-Oz 06-25-2016 10:31 PM

This team won't make the playoffs or come close at this rate

My point was not counting the core guys. Of course we have trade bait there. But my post was in assumption that Moore will ride those guys through their contracts (which expire after 17) while trying to keep as many as possible. I think we'll get to lock up one, best case two.

But what you said is part of the point. They will go all in now or next year. I think they'll stand pat now especially with Moose being out for the year, then fill the holes in the offseason to make a run in 17 (which goes along with what I said about having no trade bait, because nobody is giving anything up for our prospects without a Mondesi).

There is plenty of trade bait in the minors besides Mondesi. Duncan had a good run down of them a week or so back.

Not worth giving up with one of our core guys. Why give up the prospects in an already lost season where you're not at full strength anyway? Wait until next year, revisit then.

Because you are panicking after a losing streak. Wait a month and see how things shake out.

Lol what? I'm not saying this team is finished this year. I'm talking about the options. I'm just saying they have a choice depending on what they feel is best; whatever that plan may be. They were just talking about it on MLB Network this week actually. Doubt they buy or sell at the deadline knowing they'll have a healthy Moose back next year and can fill holes through free agency. They don't have any trade bait because they won't sacrifice their prospects or any core guys when you're not at full strength anyway. IMO, you don't make any moves. Go all in next year.

You said we have 0 trade bait. Completely false. There are appealing commoditys in the minors. If they use them depends on so many things... team record, what is available and at what cost. Not ever player available is going to be a FA after this season.

It's all moot anyway. Moore is not and should not make any moves anyway. No healthy Moose, a neutered DH, etc. Take your chances in the offseason. There aren't many holes on this club. Some (new ones sadly lol) Royals fans expectations are crazy. If they don't make the playoffs this year some will riot lol.

Sure-Oz 06-26-2016 07:10 AM

What I mean by lost is with Moose being out and the SP being a mess. They could get it going this year still, this team is still resilient with that clubhouse leadership, but what are your expectations of this team now with what
we know about them? It's almost July. Don't make any trades when you're not at full strength as it is. Wait and make those moves when you have your gun loaded and you know what you have. It would be dumb to give up anyone, prospects or core guys, when you don't have a healthy Moose and other issues that aren't really fixable midseason. So you just go with it and see what happens this year.

One SP isn't going to fix this. I don't think any trades should be made.

Heck, one of the prospects you might have to give up might be needed after next year when you lose a core guy.

That's what I think Moore will do. You only have one more shot with all three. Hope they stay healthy, go all in.

If it doesn't work out, oh well. We got a world championship out of it that I'm still joyously dancing over lol.

Agreed. Clearly we are not one of the better teams this year but I still think we will be in play for a playoff spot with a handful of other meh teams. Unless things change this team isnt going to do anything even if they do sneak in, but theres still plenty of time for teams to improve their play, get hot at the right time, etc.

Eibner and Bonifacio, definitely. And Matt Strahm, Alec Mills, Pedro Fernandez, Jake Junis, Alfredo Escalera-Maldonado, Chase Vallot

They don't have a plethora of pieces to go make a flashy deal, but they have more than enough to add a solid starter, which is what the team needs most. Add one solid guy to join Ventrua, Duffy, Kennedy, and Medlen, and see what happens.
