Haith is still coach of the year in my mind. Hell of a job.

At this point, if they do well, it shouldn't be a surprise.

This team is really, really good. (And experienced.)

I think this team is better than the Elite 8 team of a couple of years ago. Just as long as they don't run into KSU they should be fine.

This. How Self got it I have no idea? He had his entire team healthy and such all year. MU tore shit up without one of their best inside guys all season, including beating KU. And with a first year coach at that.

All we heard at the begninning of the season was "wait until conference play and MU will get exposed". Then we heard "wait until they play a big team and MU will get exposed". Hat's off to KSU, they had our number this year but other than that....we stomped ass both big and small.

He got it because the Big XII is still smarting over the loss of MU and AtM. They are not giving MU anything. Everything the Tigers got this year they had to earn the hard way. KU won the conference, so Self got the COY whether he deserved it over Haith is debateable.

Only 6 4 and 5 star guys instead of 10. Woe is them...

Yup, had nothing to do with playing a true round robin and winning by 2 games. Nope, nothing at all. If there was some mass conspiracy, all 8 other votes would have gone to Self.

Yup, how you recruit has nothing to do with the coach.

To think Self did more with less than Haith is a biased judgement at best. Haith had 7 scholarship players, no recruiting class and only 2 big men and still won like 27 games at the time the award was given out.

Link to where it says the COY criteria has to be the coach who does the most with less?

Well ****, he had one of the most talented teams and no injuries all year. How are you not expected to win? CoY to me means someone who did something unexpected or met challenges otherwise not foreseen, like injuries.

I mean that's like giving Joe Torre CoY because the Yankees won the World Series with the highest payroll in baseball.

Recruiting is part of coaching.

KcMizzou 03-10-2012 09:21 PM

Self and Hoiberg (sp?) were both deserving. Sure it's a joke that Haith wasn't in there... but what did you expect? Those awards don't really mean shit... and Mizzou made a big statement on the way out the door.

I don't think Frank Haith is losing sleep over not getting that award right now.

Seriously? What Haith did at Mizzou this year was clearly superior to what Self did given the circumstances. But whatever, I am pretty sure that Haith not winning it had nothing to do with Mizzou leaving and hurt feelings.

Gee, like saying "come play for KU" is real hard. The KU reputation does more for recruiting, imo than anything.
