Yes. Some faction would have commandeered it for seafaring use hopefully.

WHAT THE **** ARE YOU LOOKING AT KIDDO? DON'T TELL ME YOU'VE NEVER SEEN A GUN BEFORE. COME ON, MOVE YOUR ASS! IT'S TIME TO GO. WHERE THE **** YOU CAME FROM?

Calling Black Row, Calling Black Row. Report: day seven, on Harvard Bridge. People are scared; last night we heard strange noises from The Institute. At the moment we see strange humans distance 2 miles north. Something isn't right with that place, over.

Leaked Documents Reveal That Fallout 4 Is Real, Set In Boston

ShowtimeSBMVP 12-11-2013 05:26 PM

Fallout 4 casting call documents confirm Boston setting – rumour
Fallout 4′s setting, plot and general existence have been harvested from a set of allegedly leaked documents.

Kotaku got hold of a set of documents including scripts and character descriptions, which it claims related to a casting call for a project codenamed Institute.

Although the word Fallout is not used in the documents, the casting director is the same as worked on Dishonored and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim; the script references locations which appeared in past Fallout games; and the famous line “war never changes” is included – although the player character narrates this opener this time around, having awoken from a cryogenic sleep chamber.

The script describes a character called Preston Garvey, who sends the player to salvage a fusion core from a museum in the Commonwealth, a location reference din other Fallout media. Other characters include a radio DJ called Travis Miles and an engineer called Sturges.

Particularly interesting is the script’s setting in and around Boston, Massachusetts, as it lines up with 2012 rumours that Bethesda was spotted scouting at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Bethesda quite naturally had no comment on the leak. Even should the documents be genuine, there’s no guarantee the details contained therein will make their way to the final game.

Bethesda wrapped development of Skyrim in April this year. Since then, it has been quiet on what it’s working on next, but fans naturally expect and hope for a new Fallout sequel, which is why everyone got so excited about that fake teaser site. Whatever it is, Bethesda thinks it’s awesome and has no timeframe for reveal.

Thanks, IGN.

Looks like it's for real this time.

It's Official: Fallout 4 Announcement Is Coming Tomorrow

There have been so many leaks and teasers over the last couple years, false, true, and somewhere in between, that the slow, inevitable push towards an actual announcement has been agonizing at times. But it’s coming. Bethesda just put a Fallout-style countdown timer on its website (thats fallout.bethsoft.com, for anyone needing further confirmation), and it promises something coming our way tomorrow morning. If this isn’t Fallout 4, Bethesda better have acquired the rights to The Last Guardian and Half Life 3, both. What remains to be seen is what form the announcement will take: Bethesda is holding its first-ever press conference at E3 in two weeks, so it’s going to have to leave some Fallout 4 for that.

For those unfamiliar, Fallout is Bethesda’s open world, post apocalyptic RPG, the developer having picked up the rights to the series with Fallout 3. Anyone for whom Skyrim was their first experience with Bethesda games will be glad to know that these two are basically the same series, taking all the same open world exploration cues, just in radically different settings.

We don’t know a whole lot about Fallout 4 yet, but early rumors strongly point to the game being set in Boston, which features heavily in Fallout lore. This will be Bethesda’s first outing on the Xbox One and PS4, and I’d be shocked if the developer also releases for Xbox 360 and PS3. For that reason, we’re likely getting a whole new engine to go along with the title, updating the graphics and hopefully adding in current-gen standards like seamless transitions from interiors to exteriors. Graphics technology is hugely important for Bethesda games, especially considering their first-person perspective, and so facelifts actually go a long way to changing the way the game feels and plays: just look at the difference between Oblivion and Skyrim. There’s bound to be a whole lot more changes as well, but we’ll wait until tomorrow to find out.

What is clear, though, is that while Bethesda may have once been the champions of the open world RPG, there’s a new kid in town that’s raising the bar. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3 sets a new gold standard for immersion in an open world game, and Bethesda is going to need to up its game from Skyrim.
