Throw in the fact that he is getting it done with not a single premier offensive player around him, and you can see how good he is. His QB is Vinny Testaverde for crying out loud! Eddie George is scaring no one!

You heard it here first.

Cowboys fans crack me up.

BTW, Gonzalez has few, if any, NFL records right now.

He will own them all by the time he is done.

No one is talking about Shockey now that Gates is here. And Heap is hurt.

WTF is it with you and tight ends

Not if he's not even as good as a douche like Witten.

Whether Gonzo is the best or holds all the records will not matter one bit if at least and AFC Championship never goes with those records. Good for him but they won't have amounted to anything.

That is the sad truth, Lord Logical. :(

People are so reeruned I swear. Jason who? I don't want to hear a single person say any tight end is going to be the next Tony G until said TE strings together AT LEAST 3 good seasons in a row. Why oh why username do you insist on echoing the media in this most idiotic craze. Tony is the only real deal TE in the game right now. Is lots of other talent out there? Yes. Does that prove anything? Hell no. Just shut up, sit down, and never copy mass media again.

I am NOT saying Witten is a better tight end than Gonzalez or as good as him. All I am saying is that I think Witten will break all of Gonzalez' records. Just like Emmitt broke Payton's records. Is/Was Emmitt a better RB than Payton? HELL NO!

Okay, so you have some notion that Tony is going to play fewer seasons then Witten? or that Witten is going to come out of the gates faster then Tony did? Because if you say Witten is going to break all of the records that we are so sure Tony will end up getting unless you think Witten is going to have extra seasons/more play time to do it in... That's exactly what yuo're saying.

That's pretty much what I'm saying. Witten is as good right now as Tony was in his third or fourth season. And he's only 22!

cheeeefs 11-16-2004 01:04 PM

with that I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. He's putting up impressive numbers, but the true test is consistancy. In two more seasons if he is as hot as he is now, or even slightly less hot, I'll give that theory some credence. How many flame out TE's have we seen that put up good numbers for their first few seasons, then disapeared into mediocraty? It happens all too often, so color me doubtfull.

Kylo Ren 11-16-2004 01:08 PM

We've heard this before. Every year there's one or two new TE's that the media says are "the next Tony Gonzalez". Tony G is going to break all of the records for a TE. He's #1 and will be for quite some time. Maybe someone will come along in the next few years, but I'll have to see it to believe it. I remember when the Raiders were crowing that Ricky Dudley was better than Tony G. Come on, give me a break.

I dunno man..... the team still almost put up 1500 yards that season. 1465 to be exact. :hmmm:
