I dunno. Do many WRs make an impact their first year, even 1st rounders?

Some have.....with the state of our WR's and the fact that he'd come into a good offense. There's a pretty good shot a reciever like Holmes could be productive right away for us.

With our luck, San Diego will take him right before our pick.

The best player available when we pick is going to be........a Safety, Santonio Holmes, Antonio Cromartie or a DE that fell. That's in no particular order but I think that's what we'll be picking from.

Only an OTackle, not a guard. It is quite obvious that we are going to need a good left tackle for 2007. I honestly believe you can teach a guy to be a pretty good guard, but a tackle requires a lot of skill. I think if/when Shields goes, we can plug a guy like Welbourn into the RG spot and get pretty good production. However, we have seen what life w/out Willie is like.

Address the WR position in free agency (Reggie Wayne). An eventual replacement for Roaf (assuming Roaf is coming back next season) should be the #1 priority with the first round pick IMO

Derek Hagan, Arizona State – Hagan recently ran between a 4.40 and 4.45 at pro timing day, a testament to the kind of speed that’s made him a dangerous long ball hitter the past two years. He runs tight routes, has soft hands, and is the closest thing to a sure thing out of the senior class. Since getting dogged early in 2003 for dropping too many balls, the 6-2, 200-pound Biletnikoff favorite has been a model of consistency, going over 100 yards in 14 of his last 20 games. Beyond the obvious physical attributes, Hagan is also a character kid, who brings a ton of intangibles to a locker room. He’s an outgoing team leader, who works as hard as the kids trying to earn playing time.
2004 Numbers – 83 caches for 1,248 yards and 10 TDs
Shades of…Chad Johnson

He does sound terrible. Makes me wonder how he caught 10 balls for 162 yards agaist USC this year. Must be a typo.

Wide reciever.

No.

Mathias Kiwanuka.

Yes.

(Unless said WR ends up being, say, Santonio Holmes.)

It's gonna be pretty hard to sign someone the Colts aren't letting go of.........

difficult for me to see a defensive minded head coach with a bad defense, drafting a wide receiver with the first pick.

i expect offensive line or defensive with the first pick .... that would fit Edward's conservative nature.

I know thats what the Colts are indicating now that they plan to re-sign Wayne, but I can't believe they are going to give him a big contract, after giving Harrison a big contract last year. That would be a lot of $$$$ tied up in the WR position.

Wayne is as good as Harrison now, which is why they'll do it. It's much easier to fill the RB hole than the WR hole also.

His first draft in NY, he drafted Santana Moss with his first round pick. Then Lamont Jordan and Kareem McKenzie with the other first day picks. The sky is falling though, don't you worry.
