Sapp's game relies on athleticism and quickness.

Sapp is no little guy though, at least 320. He has shown me something this year, he has played his ass off all year on a horrible team. He is pretty damn solid in the run game too. WAY better than anyone we have in the middle.

Maybe we could trade Ryan Simms and 2 twinkies to Oakland for him...

i don't think sapp would be too expensive. I really don't, I suspect he has two good seasons, and he wants to play where his efforts are appreciated.

He also could help develop whomever we pick up in the draft. Imagine Okoye\Sapp\Allen\Hali. We could stick Gochiefs in @ corner and still be a top 10 defense.

Thats the thing I've noticed about him as well.

He plays with a lot of passion, and fire. It could possibly be that he loves football? I'll bet we take a look at him in the off-season because those are the kind of guys Herm wants on his football team.

There's noooooooooooooooooooooo doubt in my mind he was asking Herm to take him away from Oakland... That last look towards Herm after they were laughing was probably a comment like --- "I'm serious -- come get me Herm"!!!

I'd bet the farm on it... The reporters even asked Herm that in the post game interview...

The way I see it.

We are young on the defensive line. Having a veteran could possibly help? A good mix of youth and experience is pretty good.

*I know we shouldn't sign old age players and pay them a ton of money, but sometimes it could work...I remember the Ravens signed a GOOD veteran in Rod Woodson to help their young secondary. Just using this as an example.

Hendrix68 12-24-2006 10:06 PM

No

he can't play at all any more.

Haven't we had enough pathetically lazy slugs on the defensive line for you?

tk13 12-24-2006 10:09 PM

Well, he's definitely on the downhill slope, but he would probably because our best DT. And him and Herm have a relationship going back to Herm's Tampa days. It might not be unrealistic.

You probably havent watched Warren Sapp this year to make that statement. He's been one of Oaklands best players this year, and the fact he is playing on one the worst teams in football says a lot.

He can still play some. I think you are implying that Sapp is lazy. Sapp plays with passion. And would be better than anyone we have on our defensive line.

What do we have to lose? **** it!

mlyonsd 12-24-2006 10:51 PM

Yea, Sapp is the anchor on a 2-13 team.

Hello? Is this thing on?

What is that even supposed to mean? There are lots of good players on Oakland's defense. I'd take Nmadi Asomugha, Kirk Morrison, Tommy Kelly, Derrick Burgess, etc.

Chan93lx50 12-24-2006 11:00 PM

I dont know why I am saying this, but yeah I would take him in!

As long as we dont sit with him being our only solution to our DT lows and still try to find some young talent to fill the holes

Ok Carl, I mean Einstein, are you willing to state for the record you are in favor of paying a 35 year old DT FA money?

TrickyNicky 12-24-2006 11:29 PM

Only if he signs for the veteran minimum. No need to pay him big unless you can somehow pay him so it doesnt affect the cap.
