A lot can happen in a year, Hoover (or Hooverette...)

Besides, Bob Dole was only kidding. Bob Dole certainly holds no grudge against members of the money-gr...er...fairer sex.

And what the hell are you driving now, Kloster?

Bob Dole gets 15 city/27 highway. It's about time to break out the bicycle to get back and forth to work.

1978 Chevrolet 4X4...8city/8hwy/4mycrappygravel.

Thank God I'm only 3 mi. from work...

You know what, if the back seat and leg room was a little bigger I'd get one of those electric/gas hybrids. They have good pep and the battery is charged during breaking and coasting so no (or not much) plugging in is necessary. Honda and Toyota are selling them for 20K (taking a big loss on that BTW), but we're talking 70 mpg in the city. When gas hits $3-5 they'll be in demand for the urban motorist I think. Too bad domestic auto makers are once again going to trail the competition by a decade or two.

Bob Dole 04-30-2001 12:38 PM

Bob Dole might consider the Honda if Bob Dole didn't vomit every time Bob Dole saw one of the hideous things.

Why they felt the need to make it look like a cross between a dung heap and an AMC Gremlin, Bob Dole will never know...

I bought a Regency conversion Yukon for my 30th birthday, Bob. It's absolutely loaded. Right after I bought it, gas prices began to increase from $1.20 to nearly $1.60 per gallon, therefore I'm still in denial about the price of fuel. It's pretty difficult to part with $35 everytime at the gas station.

"Looks like I'm going to have to cut back on the golf this year. "

My God man! Lease a pair with an option to buy. What’s next give up Beer?

kcred 04-30-2001 01:21 PM

Here in Knoxville, it is 1.49 to 1.69, about the same as last summer, being retired helps, one tank every two weeks tops, sometimes more.

Bob Dole 04-30-2001 02:00 PM

Watch out Rod!

Hoover's future ex-wife is bound to jump in and give a description of his pair or something...

Rausch 04-30-2001 02:04 PM

Giving up beer is NEVER an option...

And I'll WALK before I pay $17 to fill up my Honda...I still got a bike I always promise the girlfriend I'll use on the Kady Trail....

Hoover 04-30-2001 03:56 PM

Hey I still golf 4 times month, still drink beer with the guys. Just with the higher cost of gas, I'm going to have to scale back a bit. As I get older there are somethings that I just don't do as much, like play poker with the guys 4 times a week, Drink till 2 am Thursday thru Saturday, and golf 3 time a week. I still do the things I want to, but I don't have the time like before. I guess one of you might want to save this so once I'm married you guys can get a good laugh.

BTW, I would rather pay 17 bucks to fill a Honda that will go 400 plus miles, than my car that takes 20 bucks and goes 285 miles.

Hey Brad - my aunt & uncle own a bike shop on the kady.

chief52 04-30-2001 07:13 PM

$2.09 !!!!

You are all lucky. Here in Northern California the cheapest price for regular is $2.09 ! It is crazy and supposed to get much worse this summer. Would love to be paying $1.60 !!!!!!

old_geezer 04-30-2001 07:33 PM

$1.59 unleaded or $1.62 super unleaded in the thriving berg of Windsor, Mo.

Trouble is, this town is so small that you have to go out of town to buy anything even the slightest bit unusual. So add more gas bought for the price of small town living.

JOhn 04-30-2001 07:54 PM

Funny thing...

Went to get Gas tonight, in Cameron MO, and 1 gas station had reg unleaded at $1.53, and across the street it was $1.67.

I mean .14 difference in the same town? this is getting ridiculious.

Nelson Muntz 04-30-2001 10:11 PM

the price of gas here went from 1.55 to 1.69 tonight

i sure wish the oil companies would give us some vaseline so it wouldn't hurt so bad while they rape us.
