Yep. JA might be having his best season yet in a contract year but nonetheless he has always been a player that plays until the whistle. He always gives it his all. Plus, he already had 27.5 sacks his first 3 years so it's not like he was a slouch before this year. I think he is a player that will continue to perform.

Allen deserves to be paid like a top 3 DE in this league. Keep him fat and happy.

We're not going to pay someone who would basically be a back up on any other team that kind of jack. We should be able to sign him for the vet min, or maybe a little over.

Mecca 10-16-2007 10:32 PM

Eesh, he shouldn't make as much as Peppers does....

Wow, Jack must really dislike his own mother quite a bit then.

I recall that Chiefs fans didn't like the pick when he was drafted. Now, we want to pay him more than $10 million a year. Crazy.

Things change overtime and development....

1) He will demand BIG money
2) He DESERVES big money.
3) Who cares how much he gets as long as he's a Chief
4) Comparable to DT...... YES!

(Repost?)

That's exactly why signing L.J. was so important. Now we can tag him if need be.

King Carl didn't give him a raise. He had to give him the minimun required per the the NFL and the NFLPA agreement. JA didn't get one penny more than the bargaining agreement said he was to recieve.

I'm as big as King Carl basher as they come but I can't fault king Carl for this. They pay JA big bucks and he goes out and gets another DUI they are screwed. That would be his 4th. JA would get serious jail time. A guy here in KC got 15 years in jail for his 5th DUI yesterday.

No need to pay him now either. His value is as high as its going to get right now. If he keeps his nose clean pay him in the off season.

ceebz 10-17-2007 07:44 AM

I would consider abandoning this team if they were dumb enough to let Allen walk. The Edwards and Horn decisions have made it hard enough to have confidence in Carl's ability to keep talent in KC.... Allen would be the final straw.

You are correct. I thought he was still under his original contract. I forgot he signed the one year tender. That makes Carl's comments absurd.
