The Chiefs are relying on a WR that couldn't even break into the starting line-up of Baltimore's miserable offense.

But considering the Chiefs will probably pass the ball 5 times TOTAL next season under Herm's "new" offense it really won't matter.

I don't think they'll rely on him.
I think they draft a WR in April as well.

And to Darling's credit he did have two fairly talented guys ahead of him.
And a passing game that left a lot to be desired.

Darling wouldn't have been my first choice, but there's not a lot of risk involved in that signing.

This is one I will question the Chiefs on, Johnson is big, fast and still has upside to the level of player he is. He didn't get paid that much money....

Your wrong. They may not draft one high, but they will draft one somewhere.

Probably a return guy.

Ive maintained a breakdown like this for awhile now:

10 picks

4 O-linemen

2 defensive linemen/ or one defensive lineman and 1 linebacker

2 defensive backs

2 WR's/ or 1 wr and 1 rb

Three, in fact. Derrick Mason, a first-rounder and a real talented kid in Demetrius Williams.

No shame in being a backup in that situation.

I think he must have some sort of injury. The bills brought him in early hand had him take a physical which leads me to think he must have some baggage.

I think we're in agreement then?

We both think they'll draft a WR in April...

Also Johnson caught 46 balls and Urban caught 22 balls so um come again on how he was outplayed?

People watch a game for 10 minutes of teams they never watch and immediately assume reeruned things.

Sounds to me like he picked up Johnson in a fantasy league the week that Urban blew up and he can't forget about it.

No, I'd been burned enough by him over the course of 3 seasons to care by then.

As to Mecca's "point", he did have more catches than Urban last year, sure. But he started 7 games to Urban's 2. He's started 19 games in his career and only averages 46 yds/game. Bry Johnson plays like Jane when he gets a starting opportunity. Not that I'm saying Urban is the 2nd coming of Ed McCafferty, but he's had 4 starts for AZ and averages 65 yds/game. He's had ample opportunity to show whether he's a #2 receiver in pass-friendly offenses and failed miserably.

Why didn't he sign in KC, other than the fact he's mediocre at best and we weren't interested? Which situation is he more likely to chose: KC , where he'd be the 3rd option (at best) in a terrible passing offense with an unsettled QB situation, or SF, with a Martz-led O, a highly drafted QB, and no slam dunk options ahead of him?

Something tells me you've seen Bryant Johnson play for a grand total of 15 minutes.

In person last year, Mecca Kiper Jr. Try again.

Was there anyone rumored to be interested in Johnson that wasn't a West Coast offense? Everything I saw on Johnson had him tied to a West Coast Offense because of his size. Same with Hackett. Maybe that's why the Chiefs weren't interested? Or maybe it's just because he isn't that good?

Somewhere around 30 NFL teams didn't give a shit. That should pretty much tell you everything you need to know.

The Atlanta Falcons have a visit scheduled with Broncos kicker Jason Elam...the San Francisco 49'ers are reportedly ready to part ways with WR Darrell Jackson...the New York Giants have re-signed HB Derrick Ward.
