Why?

We weren't going to compete for a championship with or without Allen.

Your right..we should never have any player worth a shit because one injury and they might never be the same

That's not what I'm saying. Some guys recover better from injury than others. I'm not so sure Allen would be one of those guys. Take Eric Hicks as an example. There's another long guy that racked up 14 sacks, then busted a knee and really was never the same.

Well...

This Jared trade for draft picks...will either be the cherry on the top of the legacy of Peterson....

or just another turd stuck in the toilet of damn near 20 years of flushing, without a wipe

Good for him. I'm glad he's getting that kind of cash from a different team though.

We're not ready to contend yet and he wanted out. That's probably Carl's fault but you can't fix stupid. That being said the Chiefs are taking a completely different tact and I'm more excited about this weekend's draft than I can ever remember.

We've never had the opportunity to draft this many kickers in one weekend ever.

They need to draft this guy because he can hit from anywhere on the field. Because that's the only way the Chiefs will be able to score any points.:cuss:

I think he resigned here in hopes of competing for a championship. Now I'm thinking he might have regretted it.

Basileus777 04-23-2008 11:36 AM

If Gonzo was stupid enough to think he was resigning with a championship contender then I can't feel sorry for him.

markk 04-23-2008 11:37 AM

no defensive end is worth the contract that they gave jared allen, that is all i know.

Basileus777 04-23-2008 11:49 AM

I wonder how much we can thank the Giants for this deal. The NFL is a copycat league and the Giants just won a Superbowl by loading up on pass rushers. The Vikings are just a quarterback away from being contenders now.

patteeu 04-23-2008 11:59 AM

I don't know if he's worth it or not, but I know I'd rather be on the Chiefs side of this trade than the Vikings side unless I had a team that I thought was one piece away from the Superbowl and DE was that piece. Surely, with the offense they have in place, the Vikings don't think JA is the last piece to their superbowl puzzle, do they?

catfish307 04-23-2008 11:59 AM

Clark Hunt must have been involved in the decision to unload Jared, because there's no way Carl would have been smart enough to make the trade. Thank you Minnesota, you've got balls!

They just traded away the picks they need to draft that quarterback and they gave that quarterback's contract to a defensive end.

Good for him. And good that its to an NFC team, too.

eazyb81 04-23-2008 12:20 PM

I have to admit it's funny seeing everyone now claiming this was a great trade.

On the day the rumor was announced, there were about 3 of us saying it was a good decision, and the rest of the board was going batshit crazy.
