I know I thought it was a reach on draft day.

I don't like slow safeties, either. Pollard would have probably been a better LBer, than safety, his coverage skills are the suck.

ok ONE play you can call out. AND that was a 250 lb RB with a head of steam, while pollard was pretty much standing still

He wasn't standing still.

He left his feet and threw his body at Hillis.

Had he kept his feet and actually attempted to make a tackle using sound fundamentals, he might have been able to make that tackle.

As it was, he attempted to lay the wood and ended up in the chipper.

he took one step and lunged, you're right, still hillis got 1 maybe 2 yards more.
but that is only one play of many and i feel as though the safeties had a better overall game today

I think our safeties are servicable, at best.

They aren't terrible, and they'll have some games, like today, where they look ok, overall.

They could be upgraded, but it isn't a real priority with all of our other needs.

Still, if a guy like Taylor Mays is the best player on the board when our selection comes up, you'd be hard pressed to not take him.

agreed

If Taylor Mays is available, our secondary would be set for 5 years with Morgan, Mays, Flowers and Carr.

Every good team in the NFL has a great safety.

Garcia Bronco 12-07-2008 08:12 PM

Flowers will be great.

Giants?

Brandon Carr had a very rough day today. Just like Leggett did against the Saints. It's part of the deal for a rookie from D2. But that play with Marshall in the end zone on 3rd and long was really really bad. He just stood there and watched Marshall make a play on the ball.

You do know the Giants just used a 1st round pick on a safety yes?
